  10.          SYMPTOM:  Server hanging during VAP load at server boot-up
  11.  
  12. ISSUE/PROBLEM
  13.  
  14. When loading the VAPs for NetWare for Macintosh v2.2 at file server
  15. boot-up time, the server hangs with the error message "AFP Gateway: 
  16. Bad format in ATFiles.CFG" if the server name is longer than 25
  17. characters.

  19. This is true even though the documentation (see "Installing/
  20. Maintaining the Network") affirms that the maximum server name
  21. length is 45 characters.

  23. This situation does not apply to NetWare for Macintosh v3.0.

  25. SOLUTION
  26.  
  27. A temporary solution to this situation is to limit the file server
  28. name to 25 characters.
  29.  
  30. Novell is investigating a permanent solution that will be
  31. implemented in one of the following ways:  (1) a direct software
  32. fix, or (2) a change in product specifications that reflects a
  33. permanent 25-character limit under the above conditions.  This
  34. product specification change would be outlined in the "Installing/
  35. Maintaining the Network" manual and other pertinent Novell
  36. documentation.  If Novell implements a software fix, a follow-up
  37. technical bulletin will be released outlining its usage.
