  7.                            Updated NetWare Utilities
  8.  
  9. Several NetWare utilities have been updated.  The following list explains the
  10. limitations caused by the utilities and identifies the updated files' sizes 
  11. and dates.  These files are available on NetWire.  NetWare version 2.15 
  12. (revision C) also contains the updated files.
  13.  
  14. NVER
  15.  
  16.             When NVER was used on an 8088 workstation (such as the IBM PS/2    
  17.             model 25, the IBM PC, PC/XT, or any other IBM PC-compatible 
  18.             machine), the workstation would hang.  This limitation did not 
  19.             exist on 80286 and 80386 machines. The new NVER.EXE file has this
  20.             limitation repaired.  It is dated 6/15/89 and is 13,805 bytes.

  22. FCONSOLE
  23.  
  24.             A console operator with READ, OPEN, and SEARCH rights in a given
  25.             directory could not see any files from within FCONSOLE.EXE.  This
  26.             has been fixed.  The new FCONSOLE.EXE file is dated 5/19/89 and 
  27.             is 214,380 bytes.

  29. NINSTALL    
  30.  
  31.             Previous versions of NINSTALL.EXE (NetWare v2.1 through v2.15 
  32.             revision A) placed incorrect printer information on the network 
  33.             disk when even parity was selected.  The new NINSTALL utility,         
  34.             explained in Technical Bulletin #1-253, contains this fix.  
  35.             The new file is dated 10/4/89 and is 145,385 bytes.

  37.             If you have previously installed a printer and defined it to use 
  38.             even parity, you must remove that COM port as a network device 
  39.             using the "Printer Maintenance" option in NETGEN.EXE.  After 
  40.             removing the port, you can redefine the COM port with even parity.
  41.             You must replace the old NINSTALL.EXE file with the new file before
  42.             you redefine the COM port.

  44. LOGIN
  45.  
  46.             If the MACHINE_NAME variable was used in the login script on a     
  47.             computer running DOS 4.0, the "DOS 3.1 or greater is required" 
  48.             error would occur.  This limitation has been fixed.
  49.  
  50.             The DOS command BREAK OFF was not properly supported in previous
  51.             versions of the login script.  This is now supported in the new 
  52.             login utility.

  54.             The new LOGIN.EXE utility is dated 8/15/89 and is 57,143 bytes.

  57. IPX.OBJ, NET2.COM, NET3.COM, NET4.COM
  58.  
  59.       o     When a user attempted to rename a directory using  FILER, the 
  60.             "file not found" error occurred.  Changes to the shell files 
  61.             corrected this.
  62.  
  63.       o     When a user attempted to rename a file that another user had opened,
  64.             the "file not found" error occurred.  The error message has been 
  65.             changed to "access denied."
  66.  
  67.       o     The dates and file sizes of the new shell files are as follows:

  69.             IPX.OBJ     8/14/89  17,473 bytes
  70.             NET2.COM    8/14/89  38,283 bytes
  71.             NET3.COM    8/14/89  41,733 bytes
  72.             NET4.COM    8/14/89  42,080 bytes

  74. SESSION
  75.             SESSION reported incorrect user login times.  The new SESSION.EXE
  76.             file now reports the correct information.  The new file is dated 
  77.             6/29/89 and is 92,415 bytes.
  78.  
  79. NCOPY
  80.             When a Macintosh file was copied from one area to another with 
  81.             NCOPY, the date created, last modified, and last accessed dates 
  82.             were changed to indicate the date the file was copied.  This 
  83.             information was reflected in the get info screen on the Macintosh.
  84.             The new NCOPY utility will no longer change these dates.  The new
  85.             NCOPY.EXE file is dated 8/2/89 and is 24,626 bytes.

  87. DISK CONTROLLER
  88.             The disk controller selection labeled "IBM AT HARD DISK                
  89.             CONTROLLER OR COMPATIBLE" has been changed to "Industry        
  90.             Standard (ISA or AT Compatible) Disk Controller."

  95.                   Since the ISA disk driver that comes with revision C is 
  96.                   incompatible with earlier revisions of NetWare v2.15, the
  97.                   driver has not been placed on NetWire.
