The Shareware concept...
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Shareware is distributed freely so that you
can 'try-before-you-buy'. Ongoing users are
<<obliged by law>> to pay for the program
within 60 days of first use.
Thank you for supporting the idea of
low-cost, high-quality software.
Refer to LICENCE.DOC and SHR-WARE.DOC
TimeTrak is <<continually>> being
improved and expanded.
If you think that TimeTrak is a great idea
that needs more work, please consider that
we can't afford to refine it unless
someone gives us the in$piration...
When your registration payment is received,
you will be sent the latest version
along with a printed manual
and keyboard templates.

%%BADFILENAME
FILE NAME INCORRECT
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The file name that you specified was not
acceptable !
Legal file names must be at least one
character, and no more than 8 characters long.
Type over the existing name, and press ENTER
to continue to the next step.
%%CREATEGUIDE1
FILE-NEW ASSISTANCE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The operation you have selected will define
and create a new schedule structure according
to the answers you provide in this screen.
The first operation is to set the...
■ name,
■ minimum event size, and
■ the desired starting day/time.
At each question, pressing the F1 key
displays help for the current operation.
Press ENTER once to remove this window...
%%CREATENAME
ENTER THE NAME OF THE NEW SCHEDULE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Enter the name that you want to use for
the new schedule.
This name will be used to OPEN the schedule
in the future.
The schedule name is limited to eight
characters - the extension will be added
automatically by the program.
%%CREATERESOURCES
HOW MANY RESOURCE LINES TO ALLOW ?
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
How many resource lines should be provided
in the new schedule ?
The number of resources should be nominally
larger than the total number of items that you
are going to schedule.
The resources are the items down the left hand
edge of the timesheet.
If you are setting up a staff schedule, then
some number greater than the number of staff
would be typical.
%%CREATESIZE1
SPECIFY THE SCHEDULE RESOLUTION
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Please enter the minumum event duration that
should be allowed in the schedule.
The field you are now entering is a number
from 1 to 99, and indicates the number of
units to allow as the minimum event duration.
The next field selects what unit to use as
the base duration of the schedule.
Typical entries would resemble...
10 -and- Minutes
30 -and- Seconds etc...
IMPORTANT:
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
If you choose a slot size that does not divide
evenly into 24 hours, the slot boundaries will
drift throughout the length of the schedule,
since all slots are calculated as an offset
from 00:00 midnight on the first of January
1970.
This is not critical in normal use, since most
applications will use resolutions that are
typically based around multiples of tens
of seconds.
Refer to the manual for details on checking
whether a particular slotsize will drift
%%CREATESIZE2
UNITS OF SCHEDULE RESOLUTION
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
This entry is a continuation from the previous
field...
You previously entered a value to indicate
the number of units to allow as the minimum
event duration.
Now you must specify the units that should be
used in conjunction with the previous entry...
Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks
IMPORTANT:
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
If you choose a slot size that does not divide
evenly into 24 hours, the slot boundaries will
drift throughout the length of the schedule,
since all slots are calculated as an offset
from 00:00 midnight on the first of January
1970.
This is not critical in normal use, since most
applications will use resolutions that are
typically based around multiples of tens
of seconds.
Refer to the manual for details on checking
whether a particular slotsize will drift
%%WEEKSTART
WEEK START
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The program has the ability to align the
daily and weekly boundaries in sympathy with
your scheduling preferences.
Factories may start their 'roster week' on
Thursday, but the administration department
determines pay periods from Monday.
Using the WEEK START facility enables you to
specify any day as the beginning of the
schedule week.
The schedule will be displayed with correct
alignment in time, but with the week indicators
aligned to the chosen day when a display shows
a range larger then 1 week.
The NEXT...WEEK / PREV...WEEK function will
align to the day specified in this field.
Refer to DAY START for additional information.
%%DAYSTART
DAY START
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Different departments within a company may
base their working day from an irregular
reference time...
EXAMPLE:
The administrative department may start
it's day at 09:00 in the morning, while the
production department may be based on 8 hour
shifts that start at 07:00...
...and the time prior to 07:00 is regarded
as being a continuation of the previous
day's production.
By setting the DAY START time to any required
value, (in this case 07:00 for the production
dept) the display will align day markers and
base any extended moves on the specified time.
%%CREATEGUIDE2
LAYOUT DATA WINDOW
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
This step allows you to define what the user
will see when they create, modify or display
an event in the default schedule timesheet.
You may switch between laying out the window,
and adjusting the size of the frame until
you are happy with the final result.
At each question, pressing the F1 key
displays help for the current operation.
Press ENTER once to remove this window...
%%CREATEUSERWDO
DEFINE DATA WINDOW FOR THE NEW SCHEDULE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Using the arrow keys and text, layout the
window in the form that is most applicable to
your needs for this schedule.
Text and numbers may appear at any position in
the window, however the underscore (_) and
tilde (~) characters are reserved for field
definitions.
CTRL+W allows you to adjust the size of the
data window with the arrow keys. Pressing
─┘ ENTER will return to the layout mode.
Pressing CTRL+L allows you to create line
graphics (boxes etc) by moving with the
cursor keys. The digit keys (1..4) allow
you to select 4 different types of junction
and line style.
Pressing ENTER will cancel the linedraw mode.
To complete the window layout,
press CTRL+ENTER
PLACING USER DATA FIELDS
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Use the underscore (_) character, to place
variable fields anywhere in the window.
These fields will be filled by the user at the
time of creating or modifying an event.
PLACING SEARCHABLE KEY FIELDS
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Key fields appear and are used in exactly the
same way as data fields, with the added
ability to search for the contents of a key
field with the LOCATE menu functions.
To specify a KEY field, one or more of the
character positions must be occupied by a
tilde (~) character.
Use the LOCATE menu or F3 key to search for
a particular value in key fields.
■ SAVE SPACE AND TIME - Do not designate a key
field unless necessary, as each key field
requires extra disk space, and will slow the
operation of some other functions.
%%CREATEGUIDE3
NAME THE USER FIELDS
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
In the previous screen, you set up what the
user will see, however, we must also 'tie'
the user screen to values that the program
can show when asking the user to make
choices.
Inside the small text box, you should type a
word or name that suggests the contents of
the blinking data field.
Press ENTER once to remove this window...
%%CREATEGUIDE4
LAYOUT DIARY WINDOW
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
In exactly the same way as we designed the
timesheet window layout and field positions,
we must also define a layout to be used in the
diary displays if they are required.
As before, you may switch between laying out
the window, and adjusting the size of the
rectangle until you are happy with the final
result.
In the diary, you may prefer to only use a few
of the previously defined fields, so just
place the underscores in the position of the
desired fields. If you want to display exactly
the same number of characters in data window
fields, then <<you>> must keep a note of the
length of the fields that you typed in before.
If you indicate a field with fewer underscores
in the diary layout, the original fields will
be cut short to fit into the diary display.
At each question, pressing the F1 key
displays help for the current operation.
Press ENTER once to remove this window...
%%CREATEDIARYWDO
CREATE DIARY LAYOUT
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Now that you have specified the layout and
fields to be used in this schedule, you should
consider how you want the diary display and
printout to appear.
The diary contains a subset of the info
that you defined for the schedule data window
in the previous step...
Use the same keys to position text and resize
the diary window... and also use the
UNDERSCORE character to define where your
diary fields are to appear.
You can also use the CTRL+L linedraw feature
to create boxes and frames in the diary.
After you press CTRL+ENTER to complete this
layout phase, you will be asked to specify
which schedule field appears at each
underscored location.
%%TOOMANYUSRFLDS
ONLY 20 USER DEFINED FIELDS ALLOWED !
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
When laying out the schedule data window, you
are limited to a maximum of 20 user definable
fields or keys.
Each separate string of underscores ___
and/or tilde ~~~ characters is interpreted
as a field/key position.
%%CREATEGUIDE5
PICK FIELDS TO FIT IN THE DIARY
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Luckily, setup is only done once when
preparing a new schedule - and you've finally
reached the last stage in this setup !
When you remove this help screen, you will
see the diary window, with the program's
best guess at where each data field should
be placed.
To change or place any other field in any
location, move the highlight cursor to
the desired field position and press ENTER.
A list of your field names that were defined
in the data window are available to place
in each diary field position.
REMEMBER...
Each field can appear only ONCE within the
diary. If a field appears more than once, you
will not be allowed to finish the new schedule
operation until the problem is corrected.
Press ENTER once to remove this window...
%%CREATEDIARYFLDS
IDENTIFY WHICH FIELDS ARE TO APPEAR IN DIARY
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
As well as containing a subset of the main
schedule window information, you may like to
arrange the fields in a different order...
Use the arrow keys to move to the desired
field position, and press the ENTER key.
The field names you previously entered will
be shown so that you can choose which value
is to be displayed at the highlighted
position in the diary.
TimeTrak will look after trimming and
padding fields that are displayed as a
different length in the schedule and diary
layouts.
You may not use a schedule field more than
once within the diary display... If you
place the same field name in more than one
field location, the status bar will flash
when you try to exit from this section...
As always, when you see the status bar blink,
the F1 key will display more detailed
information about the problem.
To complete this section, press CTRL+ENTER
%%NODIARYFLDS
DIARY DISPLAY WAS NOT DEFINED
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
When this schedule was created, a diary layout
was not defined, or no fields were placed in
the diary layout - making it void.
The only display options available to you are
the timesheet and the calendar.
%%TOOMANYDIARYFLDS
YOU MAY NOT PLACE MORE FIELDS IN THE DIARY
THAN WERE DEFINED IN THE SCHEDULE DATA WINDOW
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
When laying out the diary, you may only specify
a number of field positions that is less than
or equal to the number of fields that were set
up during the data window layout.
%%CREATEFLDNAMES
FIELD NAMES
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
To assist in the use of KEY fields and DATA
fields, it is advised to name each field to
make identification easier when it comes time
to initiate a search (F3), or to select a
field for the timesheet display (F2).
Alongside each blinking field, a small text
box allows you to type in the desired name for
the highlighted field.
This field name will appear in the (F2)
field display selector, and for KEY fields,
this is the name that will be shown in the
(F3) LOCATE menu when you are asked to select
a key name.
%%CREATEWDOSIZE

■ WITHIN THE CURRENT SCHEDULE...
The next two options allow you to find the
NEXT (shortcut=CTRL+N) or PREVIOUS (=CTRL+P)
event in the whole schedule, regardless of
which resource the event is in.
These actions will skip over empty space,
and go directly to the next/previous event.
KEY FIELDS...
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
With the KEY FIELDS... option, you may search
for any event based on the contents of a
designated 'key' field.
Choose the key field name from the list of
available fields, and press ─┘ ENTER.
When the 'Search For...' box appears, type
in the value that you want to match in the
designated key field.
The search value is compared from left
to right - so embedded text cannot be
searched.
Key searches may be repeated by using the
CTRL+ arrow keys or the CTRL+SHIFT+ arrow
keys to select the desired scope and
direction of the search.
The F3 key may be used as a shortcut to
initiate key searches.
CTRL+Next / CTRL+Prev will ignore the
keyed search so that you may locate any event
by presence alone.
JUMP TO DATE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

Move the cursor over any of the listed field
names, then press ENTER to select it as the
field to be searched with the CTRL+arrow keys.
STARTING THE SEARCH...
To activate the search now or at any time,
hold the CTRL key and press either of the LEFT
or RIGHT arrow keys for the desired search
direction.
Note also that pressing the CTRL+SHIFT keys
together will change the scope of the search.
CTRL+ arrow = search in curr resource only
CTRL+ SHIFT+ arrow = in whole schedule.
%%LOCATEVALUE
ENTERING A VALUE TO LOCATE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Enter enough text to locate the event that you
are looking for, followed by the ENTER key...
■ SELECT SEARCH DIRECTION
...then use the appropriate CTRL+(SHIFT+)arrow
keys to specify the scope and direction of the
search as current resource only, (or within
the whole schedule).
The search will be made by comparing the
value entered here with those already stored
under the events in the schedule.
The more explicit you are in defining the
search value, the faster the search will be
completed.
The scope of the search will be shown in the
lower RH corner of the screen whenever the
CTRL key is held down.
If the search fails, the status bar will
flash for a moment, otherwise the cursor
will be positioned to the matching event.
The search value entered is retained for
future key searches, and may be repeated by
using the CTRL+arrow keys (for current
resource) or CTRL+SHIFT+ arrow keys (for
the whole schedule).
CTRL+Next / CTRL+Prev will ignore the
keyed search so that you may locate any event
by presence alone.
Note: When locating a key in the diary, the
cursor will be positioned to the timeslot
which contains the matching event. If there
is more than one event in the timeslot, you
may have to look 'down' the events to find
the matching key within the group of events.
%%STATUSWINDOW
THE TIMESHEET STATUS WINDOW
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The window behind this help box provides you
with an idea about the current settings that
affect the operation of TimeTrak.
The first two paragraphs give details
regarding the currently active schedule, while
the larger middle section explains the effect
of the current configuration options.
These middle fields will vary with the
SETtings in the environment variables,
or by changing your preferences in the
Config-Options submenu.
The final two blocks explain the current
viewable time range of the timesheet, and
indicate the next alarm trigger time for
this schedule.
%%NOEVENTFOUND
NO MORE EVENTS IN CURRENT RESOURCE/SCHEDULE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The last search or arrow key operation failed
to find another event in the direction that
was specified.
%%NOSCANEVENT
NO EVENTS IN SPECIFIED TIME RANGE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
There were no events that STARTED in the time
range that you specified...
If you think TimeTrak has displayed an
incorrect number of events, remember that
TimeTrak uses the week and day start times
that were defined when the schedule was
first created.
From the timesheet, press the TAB key to
display the current schedule settings
and defaults.

MO MORE ROOM TO MOVE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
You have reached the limit of movement
available for this split.
The limit is determined from the type of move,
and the relationship of the selected split to
the adjacent split boundaries.
Each split must retain at least one line to
display the resource contents.
%%NOUSERKEYS
THERE ARE NO KEY FIELDS DEFINED
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
For a locate operation to search for a value
in a field, the field must have been defined
as a key field when the schedule was first
created.
Use the F2 key to list the available field
names for display - however since none were
set up as KEY fields (with the tilde char),
you must search visually through the events
by using CTRL+(SHIFT+) and the arrow keys,
or you may use the diary to browse through
the range of events.
%%NOUSERFIELDS
THERE ARE NO FIELDS DEFINED IN THIS SCHEDULE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
When this schedule was created, no fields were
setup on the data form with the UNDERSCORE (_)
or keys with the TILDE (~) characters.
Events in this schedule are simply present or
absent, they cannot contain user entered data.
To define a schedule with user fields or keys,
refer to the Help screens while creating a
new schedule.
%%INVALIDTIME
INVALID TIME ENTRY
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The time value just entered was invalid -
either the time was out of range, or some
unexpected characters were encountered.
%%DIARYTOALL
NOTHING TO SHOW IN CURRENT RESOURCE.
DIARY SWITCHED TO SHOW ALL RESOURCES
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
There were no events to display in the current
resource, so the diary switched automatically
into displaying the events from all resources
with respect to the cursor date and time.
%%NOALARMFILE
NO ALARM INDEX FILE !
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
TimeTrak could not locate the .TLX file for

that the required TSD, TSX and TLX files are
accessible to TimeTrak.
%%NOALARMSEL

%%NOALARMTIME
NO TRIGGER TIME SPECIFIED
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

must be provided correctly.
In this case, either...
■ the alarm trigger time was not selected
or keyed in correctly.
■ the time that was selected, has already
past the current date and time.
%%ALARMTIME

%%CANCELALARM
HOW DO YOU WANT TO GET RID OF THIS ALARM ?
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
You may choose SLEEP, which will tell the
alarm to go away, then reschedule itself to
remind you again at a later time.
Alternately, you may elect to CANCEL the
alarm, which will remove ■ this ■ alarm
permanently. Note that if other alarms have
previously been set for the same event,
then they will remain unchanged.
If you don't press any key within 30 seconds,
the alarm will automatically SLEEP.
%%ALARMTRIG
AN ALARM TRIGGER IS WAITING
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
An alarm is due now !, but since you have some
important information on the screen, it is
being delayed until you close the pop-up
windows that are currently on screen.
The status bar will flash every 5 seconds to
remind you that the alarm is still waiting.
%%INSALRMFAILD
FAILED TO WRITE ALARM ENTRY
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
TimeTrak failed to record the alarm details
that you just created.
This may be due to the fact that the alarm
falls at the same time as another alarm that
is attached to this event.
Check the alarm list - to see if there is
already an alarm of the same type at the
required time.
%%PLANRSET
SPECIFY LINE BREAK POINT FOR PLANNER
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
When printing a planner layout, TimeTrak
will allocate a standard slot width to provide
the 'best' appearance when printing.
This calculation is based on the schedule
timebase, and the printer setup parameters.
If you prefer to force some other line break
setting, you may enter your preferred values
for the number of days and/or HH:MM:SS that
should be displayed per line of the planner
listing.
After completing the entry, the value will be
checked to make sure that it can be formatted
to fit in the available printer width.
You will then be asked to confirm the printout
or to re-enter the values - if TimeTrak
could not format a line that will fit
across the current printer width setting.
%%INVPLANR
PLANNER PRINT RANGE WILL NOT FIT
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
TimeTrak cannot fit the line format you
requested with the slot size of the current
schedule.
Either the slots would show as 'less' than
one character wide, or they would overflow
the width of the page.
Please consider the slot size of the schedule
and select another line fitting size.
%%ETIMEOVFL
SCROLL / ZOOM OUT OF RANGE
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The last zoom or scroll operation expected
TimeTrak to move beyond the internally set
time range of the program...
You may only move and edit in the times
bounded by Jan 1970, and ending in Feb 2038 AD
Zoom, scroll and repositioning operations will
'bounce' off the end limits, and 'park' on the
second-last available timeslot in the schedule.
%%NOEVENTATCURSOR
NO EVENT UNDER CURSOR !
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
There was no event under the cursor to perform
the selected operation.
