  8.   Fuel is drawn to the appropriate cylinder by vacuum created by the piston
  9. moving  down in the cylinder.   The gasoline  is fed  into the  cylinder by 
  10. either EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) or by a carburetor.  By some special 
  11. controls, a specified amount of air is admitted and mixed  with the  gas to  
  12. allow for combustion.  If there were no air in the cylinder, there would be 
  13. no explosion.   And, simply enough, the engine wouldn't run.                                               
  14.                                                                                
  15.   There are two downward strokes of the piston in  every one  revolution of 
  16. the engine.   One, as pointed out,  occurs  when the  gasoline/air  mixture 
  17. explodes and is referred to as a power stroke.                                              
  18.                                                                                
  19.   The other stroke occurs on the next downward movement of the  piston and 
  20. is referred to as the intake  stroke when the vacuum is  formed to draw in 
  21. the fuel.
