Most automobiles being sold today
have all vital functions controlled
by a computer chip. This chip (an
Eprom) controls and monitors all the
engine functions such as gas, air,
vacuum, temperatures and so on.
There is really not much we can do
if this chip goes flaky. It has to
be replaced. Even is we have access
to an Eprom programmer, we have no
knowledge of the program as it has

been originally entered.
There are programs on the market which
will allow access to this chip for diag-
nostic purposes. However, if you have a
laptop computer and the proper interface
to connect your computer to the engine,
you'll need a vast amount of electronic
experience to be able to understand what
the computer is showing. Best to leave
well enough alone and leave this work to
the professional.
