  8.   Most  vehicles  today  have  front
  9. wheel disc brakes.  The pads used on
  10. these brakes have a metal projection
  11. which acts as a wear sensor.  As the
  12. pads wear from usage, the metal gets
  13. closer to the  rotating  disc.  When
  14. pads get  to a  predetermined thick-
  15. ness, the metal  projection  touches
  16. the disc and begins to squeal.  Time
  17. for a brake repair shop.  It's not a
  18. good idea to let this noise continue

  23. the disc and  increase  your costs for
  24. the repair job.                       
  25.   Rear   brakes  generally  use  brake
  26. shoes.  If  you hear metal noises from
  27. the rear wheels, it's time to get to a
  28. brake shop also.  There are no sensors
  29. in the rear so noises are bad news.   
  30.   If the car  pulls when you apply the
  31. brakes, it  could be problems with the
  32. wheel cylinders and should be checked.
