Lower the car until the wheel is just
touching the ground. Now loosen the 4
or 5 wheel nuts. Just loosen them.
Now raise the car once more until the
wheel is off the ground. Take off the
wheel nuts and pull the wheel off. At
this point, in the event of a real flat
you would put on the spare wheel. For
now, put the same wheel back on and put
on the wheel nuts. Tighten them so the
wheel is drawn up against the drum. Now
lower the car until the wheel is just
touching the ground and tighten the
wheel nuts securely. When you tighten

wheel nuts, it's easier on you if
you pull up on the wrench as you
tighten. You can use your entire
body as leverage. When you are done
lower the car and remove the jack.
If you have wheel covers, they can
be a duzy to put back on. On the
road, I'd leave it off and let the
tire repair man put back on when you
get the flat fixed. Don't forget to
get the tire fixed . . . you'll
never know when you may need it
again. It is comforting to know you
have a good spare in the car.
