SALT

text/4 27 1
This product, which most of us like
on our food, is a real dirty 4-letter
word when it comes to keeping our cars
in good shape. Some parts of the USA
have no problem with it but some of us
really have problems. In the 'SALT'
belt up north, they use salt on the
roads to melt snow and ice. Great!
But it creates a cancer on the metal
which is impossible to stop. The only
way to overcome this is to have the
car undercoated when you first buy it.

There are more elaborate systems
such as 'Ming' which put on special
coatings in the hidden areas where
rust starts. These do work if done
before any rust has gotten a foot-
hold. Not much can be done other
than taking a hose as soon as you
get home and wash the underside of
the car with a strong stream of
water. But, who wants to go out-
side in a snowstorm and wash the
underside of their car?
