  4.   Note the squared edges of tire tread on the first view of the tire on  the
  5. previous display.  This is the way a tire should wear at  all  times.    The
  6. tread will get more shallow as wear continues but the wear should be even.  
  7.   The zoom view shows what a tire looks like when wheels are out  of  align-
  8. ment.  The tread wears and feathers to one side . . . it can  be  in  either
  9. direction depending on the problem.  Watch the wear on your tires and if you
  10. see this feathering, you must get into an alignment shop.                   
  11.   Wheels can go out of alignment due to wear and tear on suspension parts or
  12. if you strike a chuckhole too severely or even if you hit a curb  at  a  bad
  13. angle.

  16.   It's not too common, but if front wheel bearings are out of adjustment  or
  17. simply worn out, tires can wear at abnormal angles also.  With proper lubri-
  18. cation and adjustment, wheel bearings should be no problem for thousands  of
  19. miles. They should be checked by an experienced mechanic every 10,000 miles.
