Schedule*Master Version 2.0 Additional Information
This file contains last-minute additions or enhancements to either the
Schedule*Master system or documentation.
The user's manual is provided as a text file called MANUAL.TXT. You can use
the TDE text editor (included) to view it by typing TDE MANUAL.TXT and pressing
ENTER.
Installation
If you have downloaded this version from a BBS then you need to follow these
installation instructions - ignore what's in the manual.
1 - Make a new directory on your hard drive (see your DOS manual
if you don't know how to do this).
2 - Simply copy the files to this new directory.
3 - Type SM and press ENTER to run the program.
If you received a diskette directly from the author an install program has been
included - see the manual.txt file for more info.
Additions To The Manual
There are 2 new functions available from the Daily Display screen for
handling todo records. These options allow you 'bump up' the priority
on a todo record, or lower the priority without having to actually edit
the record. To use either option, from the daily display, hi-lite the
todo record you wish to change and press either H to raise the priority
to 0 (the highest) or type L to lower the priority to 99 (the lowest).
These options will only work on todo records, if you have an appointment
hi-lited and try to type H or L you will hear a 'beep' and nothing will
happen. You can use these options from the extended search display as
well.
Windows Icon
Schedule*Master will run fine in a DOS session under Windows. An icon has
been included for you to use within Windows - it's called SMASTER.ICO. Use
the PIF editor to install it (see your Windows documentation ).
Schedule*Master Registration Information
Schedule*Master is distributed under the 'Shareware' concept. Shareware
basically means that you have the opportunity to try the software before you
pay for it! If you like the program and intend to use it then you are expected
to register it. If the software is of no use to you then simply delete the
program from the disk - you've lost nothing.
You are encouraged to copy and distribute this program freely as long as the
following conditions are met :
1 - No profit may be made from its distribution. A reasonable
handling fee not to exceed $10.00 may be charged however.
2 - The program must not be altered in any way.
Registered users will receive :
1 - Low-cost upgrades.
2 - Technical support VIA mail, GENIE, Compuserve or telephone.
3 - A printed, bound copy of this manual.
4 - A copy of the registered version of the software excluding the
shareware notice.
5 - 3 additional programs
. A conversion program to convert version 1.2/1.3 files to 2.0
. A mass change utility to allow changing multiple records at one time
. A merge utility that will allow you to merge someone else's database
into yours and vice-versa. Useful for managers who want to have
their employees' schedules integrated into theirs. This utility
will be available no later than April 30,1992 and will be sent to
registered users as soon as it is available.
See the file REGISTER.TXT for more information
Release Notes

Enhancements
- Note records are now handled via a full-screen text editor included with
Schedule*Master. The user can also use their own editor if they wish.

- The number of categories and people that can be defined is only
limited by memory. Editing categories and people is also handled via the
full-screen editor.
- Todo priority field increased to 2 positions
- Paradox tables for the database(s)
- User can define number of days ahead of time to show each todo record, or let
the system default be used.

cursor will be positioned at the current date.
- The todo records, when displayed daily or in reports, can be sorted by
priority, date, person or category.
- You can now close a todo record the regular way - using 'C' - or by
supplying a date when adding/editing a record.
- The appointment records, when displayed or in reports, can be sorted by
time, priority, or person.
- The mouse can be used to perform almost all functions.
- You can easily change a todo record to highest or lowest priority from the
daily display screen by typing H or L respectively.

for more info.
Fixes
- Printer wasn't reset properly after printing weekly report - this has been
correctly.
- When printing to a LAN-connected printer the format codes were not being
sent correctly. This has been corrected.
- When creating a daily summary report an extra page was being sent to the
printer after the appointments were printed. This has been corrected.
If you experience any problems at all, or want to make a suggestion for
improving Schedule*Master please contact me at the address listed below. I
will make every effort to eliminate any bugs reported as soon as possible.

Misc.Notes
==========
Documentation is provided on the distribution diskette as files
SMDOC.TXT - Main documentation file in ASCII format.
Note that the screen image figures are not
included in the disk-based documentation,
nor are the sample reports.
README.TXT - Last minute notes
You may view any of these files by typing the following command :
TYPE filename|MORE
Substitue the 'filename' with the name of the documentation file you wish to
view. The |MORE will cause the display to stop scrolling when the screen
becomes full and waits for you to press any character. In order for this to
work properly you must have the file MORE.COM in a directory accessible via a
PATH statement (see the DOS manual for instructions on the PATH statement).
You may also enter TYPE FILENAME and simply display the file continuously on the
screen.
You may print any of the files by typing the following command :
PRINT filename
Again, substitute the 'filename' with the name of the file you wish to print.
The file PRINT.COM must be in a directory accessible via a PATH statement in
order for this to work. If you don't have PRINT.COM (??) then try :
COPY filename PRN
Substitute 'filename' with the name of the file you wish to print.
