PC TIME STANDARD v2.01 Page 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The clock built into the IBM Personal Computer is not known
for it's accuracy. Most PC's lose anywhere from a few
seconds a day up to half a minute a day. PC TIME STANDARD
gives you a way to quickly and accurately set your PC's
clock to one of the most accurate time standards in the
world...the atomic cesium clock maintained by the Nation
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder,
Colorado. With the use of your modem and the NIST Automated
Computer Time Service, your PC can be set to the correct
time with an accuracy of 10 milliseconds (0.01 seconds) or
better. PC TIME STANDARD keeps your clock "on time" by
measuring it's average drift and making automatic adjustment
every time you turn on your computer.
PC TIME STANDARD also offers scheduled updates, automatic
Daylight Saving changes, automatic leap second adjustments,
an event recorder, a plotting facility, and more.
Using PC TIME STANDARD is fast, easy, and inexpensive. Most
clock updates take only 7 to 8 seconds of connect time, and
the long distance toll charges are generally less than 25
cents. With intermediate adjustments, fewer updated are
needed.
