<HR SIZE=4><H3>General</H3><P>If Navigate with an Accent is not operating the
way it should, the first thing to check is whether it is compatible with the
version of Netscape Navigator<FONT SIZE=1><SUP>(TM)</SUP></FONT> that you are
running. Navigate with an Accent is designed to run with Netscape Navigator
<FONT SIZE=1><SUP>(TM)</SUP></FONT> 2.0 - 3.0 and Netscape Navigator Gold
<FONT SIZE=1><SUP>(TM)</SUP></FONT> 2.0 - 3.0. <P>You should also refer to
Accents installation instructions and make sure that you installed Accent
correctly. Several possible sources of difficulty are:<UL>
<LI>You must run Netscape independently at least once before installing Navigate
with an Accent. If you think you might not have done this, run Netscape by
itself then reinstall Navigate with an Accent.<LI>If you are using Netscapes
<I>SmartMarks </I>add-on, you must close it before running Navigate with an
Accent.
</UL>
<H3>Opening Files</H3><P>If you cannot open a file, you should first try opening
the file in Netscape without Accent. The problem may simply be that the server
is overloaded or out of service. If you succeed in opening the file in Netscape,
try the following:<UL>
<LI>Check that you <A HREF="open_eng.htm">entered the URL</A> correctly.
<LI>If you are using a proxy server, check that it is configured correctly.
</UL>
<UL>
<LI>If you are also having trouble with other applications that use network
connections, such as <A HREF="mail_eng.htm">email</A> and FTP, check your network
connection.<LI>Replace the domain name in the URL with the IP address of the
server. If this works, your DNS (domain name system) server may be down.
<LI>If you are using a modem, check that the baud rate is set to the manufacturer's
specifications.
</UL>
<H3><A NAME="server"></A>Displaying Server Messages</H3><P>You can set up Navigate
with an Accent to display server messages. These are messages from the server
you have tried to contact which give the reason for the failure to establish
a connection. They are often more detailed than Accents error message.
<P>To display server messages:<OL>
<LI>From the Options menu, select General Preferences.<LI>From the list box
at the bottom of the Preferences box, select Miscellaneous.<LI>Select Show
Server Messages.<LI>Click OK.
</OL>
<H3>Displaying Technical Information</H3><P>To Display technical information
about Navigate with an Accent:<OL>
<LI>From the Help menu, select About Navigate with an Accent.<LI>Click Support.
