  10. <HR SIZE=4><P>Using Navigate with an Accent, you can open the following file
  11. types:<UL>
  12. <LI>HTML Documents<LI>Text Documents<LI>AU and AIFF Sounds<LI>GIF and JPEG
  13. Images<LI>QuickTime Movies
  14. </UL>
  15. <P>There are several ways to open a file. From the <A HREF="hist_eng.htm">History
  16. list</A>, you can open a file which you opened earlier. From the <A HREF="book_eng.htm">Bookmark
  17. list</A>, you can open a file which you have previously marked with a bookmark.
  18. You can also <A HREF="retr_eng.htm">retrace the steps</A><A HREF="retrace.htm">
  19. </A>of your current Navigate with an Accent session.<P>You can open a new file
  20. using either the <A HREF="#location">Location Box</A>, the <A HREF="#file_menu">File
  21. menu</A>, or the <A HREF="#open_url">Open URL</A> button from the <A HREF="tool_eng.htm">Toolbar
  22. </A>.<H4><A NAME="location"></A>Opening a File Using the Location Box</H4>
  23. <P>To access an Internet site or open a local file with the Location Box:
  24. <OL>
  25. <LI>Place the cursor in the Location Box (located underneath the Toolbar).
  26. <LI>Type the Internet address or local path and file name and press <CMD>Enter
  27. </CMD>. For a local file, enter the path and file name in the following format:
  28. <A NAME="openfile"></A><SAMP>file:\c:\directory\subdirectory\filename.htm
  29. </SAMP>.

  31. <H4><A NAME="file_menu"></A>Opening a File Using the File Menu</H4><P>To access
  32. an Internet site or open a local file, use the File menu.<UL>
  33. <LI>To access an Internet site, select Open Location; a box labeled Open Location
  34. appears. Type the address of the site you want and click Open.<LI>To open a
  35. local file, click Open File; a dialog box appears. You can either enter the
  36. path and file name in the File Name box or use the Look In box to select a
  37. file. If you enter the path and file name manually, use the following format:
  38. <SAMP>c:\directory\subdirectory\filename.htm</SAMP>. When you have specified
  39. the path and file name, click Open.

  42. <P>To access an Internet site or open a local file using the Open URL button:

  48. name with the same format that you would use to open a file with the <A HREF="#location">Location
  49. Box</A>.
