ALLWET, a program for analyzing water distribution systems
Portions copyright 1985, 1986, 1987 by Michael Fuerst. All rights reserved.
This disk contains PC/AT/compatible version of ALLWET, a computer
program for analyzing water distribution networks. The program utilizes free-
format input making data preparation easy, and has an interactive language to
simplify testing of various alternatives. The small version on this
disk handles a maximum of 20 nodes and 20 pipes. The full version of
the program, which handles 400 pipes and 400 nodes, is available from
the author for $295. A 700 node, 700 pipe version is also available from
the author.
Civil engineering firms have been using ALLWET for several years.
Detailed instructions for using the program are contained in "ALLWET: A
Users' Manual" by Michael Fuerst. The file ALLWET.ARC on this disk contains
this manual in compressed format. The program ARCE.COM (also on this disk)
will uncompress the manual. To do this, set the drive containing this
disk to the default drive, and type d:ARCE d:ALLWET
where d is the drive containing this disk. The following files will be placed
on the default drive:
(1) TOC.SML - Title page and table of contents
(2) CHAP1.SML - Brief introductory chapter
(3) CHAP2.SML - Explains how ALLWET views a water distribution system
(4) CHAP3.SML - Data preparation for ALLWET
(5) CHAP4.SML - Explains interactive use of ALLWET
(6) FIG5.SML - Extensive example of interactive ALLWET use
(logically follows Chap 4)
(7) CHAP5.SML - Explains batch use of ALLWET
(8) CHAP6.SML - How to determine what's wrong if ALLWET doesn't
seem to work right
These files can be printed or displayed on the screen.
The large versions of ALLWET come with a printed copy of the manual.
ALLWET requires a personal computer with at least 256K of memory and
version 2.0 or higher of MS-DOS or PC-DOS. The whole program, being too large
to fit into 256K, has been overlayed (i.e., only the necessary parts of the
program are ever kept in memory). Thus, during ALLWET use, the disk drive(s)
may activate in order to load a needed portion of the program into memory. On a
PC with a hard disk, the delay would be less than 1 second. On a PC with only
floppies, the delay could be 5 seconds. On an AT you will have time for two
quick blinks.
If using the program on a machine without a hard disk,
(i) the program disk should be placed in the default drive, and
(ii) the diskette in the non-default drive must contain the input data
and also have at least 40,000 free bytes. (ALLWET requires
this space for scratch files for which the program disk
does not contain enough space.)
Type ALLWET to start the program. The program will prompt for the input
data file. Data files must be prefaced by the non-default drive
followed by a colon.
If your machine has a hard disk, copy ALLWET.EXE to the hard disk,
set the hard disk as the default drive, and type ALLWET to start the
program.
This diskette also contains a file named SAMPLE, containing
the data for the sample problem in the user manual.

concerning this program are encouraged. This small version of the program and
the disk version of the manual may be copied and distributed freely. Printed
versions of the manual may not be copied or distributed. The large version of
the program may not be copied or distributed without written permission.
