Seth Sternberger, Mr. 8-Bit Weapon,
set the Expo Room rocking with more
SID sounds, while video effects such
as the Amiga Bouncing Ball put the
Commodoreans into a very
psycho-technic mood.

Todd Elliot wanted to show off his
"Dancing Baby" program -- Silicon
Dreams -- published on LOADSTAR, so
Dave Moorman loaned a Home Tower
CD-ROM to Bruce Thomas for conversion
to a 1581 disk with the GEOS/WHEELS
system. Then Dave took the PC D81 copy
over to Greg Nacu to see if he could
do the same on WINGS/IDE64.
The competition was inconclusive --
but LOADSTAR will certainly have to
offer some real challenges to the
various operating systems on today's
Commodores.

It was a night of conversation and
coding and soldering and socializing.
Jeri converted a USB board she had
created for the Apple II to work on
the C= expansion port. Now all that is
needed is the firmware to run it!
Maurice Randall worked on a
programming project, while everyone
had plenty of pop and chips and fun.

The LUCKI Expo was a time of getting
to know each other and sharing the
delight of hobby computing on a great
hobby computer -- which can keep up
incredibly well with the mass-market
systems.
Frank Nally handled much of the
technical support for the Expo,
including staying up all night to keep
an eye on the equipment in the meeting
room. He also manned the video camera
that recorded the proceedings.

Old aquaintences and new friends
just basked in the warmth of a great
gathering. According to the official
register, 64 Commodoreans attended the
Expo, and were amazed by the technical
advancements. Come what may,
Commodorea will be around for a long
time!
Here is Raymond Day, enjoying the
festivities. (He went home and got
busy building his own LUCKI Box with
software from Roger Longhorn.)

A new attendee was the mysterious
Lawrence, one of the geniuses behind
Fast Hackem -- the copy program that
took the "protection" out of Copy
Protection! Somehow, Lawrence avoided
being photographed.
Many commented how upbeat the mood
was this year. The news of the death
of the C-64 is eleven years old now,
and still greatly exaggerated!
