Dave Moorman was next, saying that
he appreciated the many hardware and
operating system improvements being
demoed. His own favorite area of
development is to see what a "plain
brown" C-64 can do all by itself. Over
the last five years, Dave has used
Visual Basic for Windows cross-
platform development, and he wondered
if such an enviroment could be created
on the C-64.
In no time flat, he created a screen
with two regions, saved the file, then
loaded a boot-maker program. In
seconds, the screen was working with
roll-over color changes on each
region.

The system is called DOTBASIC
because Dave named the 48 Mr.Mouse
commands and 29 more of his own with
./char/char mnemonics -- such as .DO
(for a DO LOOP) and .PC (for PRINT
CENTER).
See DOTBASIC on this issue for more
information.

Leif Bloomquist has found new life
in traditional telecomputing. Using
PCs as an Internet interface, he and
friends have reestablished private
BBSs -- Bulletin Board Systems. He
connected to several BBSs and demoed
the return to "Commodore-to-Commodore
communication.

One of the bright stars in
Commodorea is Todd Elliot, who has
worked with GEOPublish to make Version
1.1 a full-featured desktop publishing
application.
Todd spoke to the EXPO about his
work and how he appreciates the C=
community for its remarkable support.
