Holly, Colorado, is 4.5 hours from
Denver, Amarillo (TX), and Wichita
(KS). That is to say, it is in the
exact middle of nowhere! This little
farming community has, according to
the 2000 Census, a population of 1000.
They must have counted ALL the dogs.
Our house is a very, very fine
house.... And when one considers the
salary a preacher gets in rural areas,
the parsonage becomes an important
part of the package. Holly has a very
nice parsonage. In general, Holly is a
very nice town.

We bought our 91 Shadow in 1990. A
couple of years later, our son got his
license -- and appropriated ol' Red.
It looks sporty, but does 0 - 60 in
just under a minute!
We lost the Shadow when Matt went
off to college. But just before
graduating, he bought the vehicle of
his dreams: a big diesel pick-up.
So ol' Red came home. During our
year in Virginia, it sat in a friend's
barn yard. Fortunately, after removing
the field mouse nests and replacing
the battery, this little Dodge chugged
back to life. Sheri lets me think it
is "my" car.

I serve three United Methodist
churches -- with Holly being the
largest. The average attendance is
about 60. We celebrated the church's
Centennial this year. The sanctuary
rests on the original, 100 year old
foundation.
When we came out here to the
lowest place in Colorado, I realized
that the "corporate ladder" I thought
I was climbing was not really leaning
against anything! So we do church here
the "old fashioned" way -- one potluck
at a time!
