D10 Voice Editor Demo
As you may have noticed, trying to edit the D10/20/110 from the
front panel is tedious and unintuitive at best. Because of this,
I have written software which attempts to correct this problem.
This demo is provided so that you can get a feel for that software
without laying out the money for it blind.
What this software is:
It is a voice editor for the D10/20/110 series synthesizers.
It is NOT a librarian. However, a bulk dump program used in tandem
with the data transfer option on the synth is provided. (This
program is not in the demo package.)
What it is NOT: A librarian
Required Equipment:
An IBM Pc with a CGA, EGA, or HERCULES graphics card and a
Roland MPU-401 compatible midi interface.
How to get it:
Send $50 (U.S.A) and a signed copy of the license agreement to:
David Chaloux
1145 Hampton Rd.
Annapolis, MD
21401
If you live in Maryland, include money to cover the Sales Tax.
($2.50).
Please do not send money to the above address after 12/31/1988.
(After all, people move.) Also the price is liable to go up after
that time. Make sure you give me the address to send the stuff to.
MONEY SENT to me WITHOUT a SIGNED LICENSE AGREEMENT will be
treated as a gift. I.e., I will be happy to cash the check without
sending the goods. THIS IS ALSO TRUE of ALTERED license agreements.
What the demo will not do:
It will not save your editing to a file. It will not change
the value of a field in the D10 when you change it on the computer.
It will not save your editing to the D10. It will not print.
In otherwords, you can get the feel of how using the editor would go,
but it really won't do anything useful.
Running the Software:
First, make sure the computer's midi Out is hooked to the D10's
midi In. (You may chain thru the Midi-thrus of other synths, etc.
first.) Second, make sure the midi OUT of the D10 is hooked to
the midi In of the Computer.
at the Dos prompt enter: D10demo
A banner page will be displayed and then a menu asking you to choose
to load either a voice from the D10 or a file. Choose as you wish.
The main page will now be displayed.
To get around:
F1-F4 will select a display of partials 1-4.
F5 will select a display of the Common Area
When on the partial display or the common display, ESC will return
to the main display.
ALT and the first letter of the selections in the menu area will
bring up an option. (Example - Alt-L will Load). Alt-R must be hit
twice to create a voice at random.
ALT F1-F4 will toggle a partial on and off.
Page Up and Page Down will play scales up and down on midi channel 1.
Space Bar will play middle C. It must be hit again to release the
note.
When in the partial or common edit displays, the cursor keys are
used to move around. In general, if a specific range is not give
in the prompt for editing a field, 0-100 are valid.
The '+' key is used to increment a field by 1. The '_' key is used
to decrement a field by one (the underscore, not the minus).
This should be enough to get you started.
This software will not come with documentation on what the various
parameters mean. (I recommend the volumes put out by Alexander
Publishing for that purpose. I actually use their D-50 manual.)
Note that this demo is also copyrighted. Distribution of this demo
is allowed if:
1) It is distributed free.
2) It is distributed in unmodified form.
(This means that the original ARC file is distributed as is.
Nothing added to it. Nothing taken away. Nothing changed.
Any other distribution of this demo is a violation of my
copyright.)
The demo may not be distributed in any other circumstances without
my express permission (given in writing).
A copy of the license agreement follows. For printing, a copy
is also found in license.agr.

to be still valid.
All upgrades to this program are also to be covered by the above
agreement.
