- 4. FACTS & FIGURES
- ====================
-
- * A HUGE note of gratitude goes to Kevin Arvin who supplied over 7000
- entries and gave this list a kick start. THANKS. Also, thanks to Ray
- Hamel who has consistently provided me with additions to the list.
-
- * The BIOGRAPHY database exists in addition to the plethora of movie
- related lists that are available. It is meant to give the reader
- access to information about individuals in the movies.
-
- * Col Needham's Movie Database Scripts (from 2.7) support it fully.
-
- * The List currently contains 7905 entries with 87 mini biographies.
-
- * This is only a subset of the full list, which can be obtained by
- FTP, or by using the scripts that come with the Movie Database. See
- later notes.
-
- * A selection of biographies will be posted to rec.arts.movies, with a
- request for people to fill in the blanks. The lists will then be
- updated with the new information. However your are free to submit
- biographies for anyone at anytime.
-
- * This list was inspired by Rob Hartill.
-
-
- 5. SUBMITTING UPDATES
- =======================
-
- We rely on users of the database to submit corrections and additions to
- keep the lists as accurate and complete as possible. The most convenient
- method for submitting them is via the movie mail-server's central
- collection service. For a full guide send an e-mail message with the
- subject:
-
- HELP ADD FULL
-
- to <movie@ibmpcug.co.uk>. Alternatively, if you prefer to mail them
- directly to me please follow the guidelines below, but please bear in
- mind that data sent to the mail-server will be processed much more
- quickly.
-
- 6. SUBMISSION RULES
- ====================
-
- Additions
- ---------
-
- (1) mark the start of the data with the word:
-
- BIOGR
-
- (2) All copyrighted material is *excluded* from the BIOGRAPHY database.
- This includes Movie Guides, Newspapers, Biographies etc.
-
- (3) You must stick to the pre-arranged format given below. The
- biographies will be read in by a program, and will automatically be
- added to the list. Any non-conformant entries will be discarded.
-
- (4) Try and keep biographies reasonably concise.
-
- (5) The list compiler has the right to choose which information to use.
- Information from a number of sources may be combined to provide a
- single biography.
-
- (6) If possible, run your mini-bio through a spell checker.
-
- (7) Any libelious or slanderous entries will, unfortunately, have to be
- discarded :)
-
- (8) When submitting Trivia, if appropriate, try and include a date so
- that some form of chronology can be formed.
-
