GRAFX TITAN v0.9
from Random Logic Systems
copyright February 1990, Jeffrey Kinzer
GrafX Titan is to be a multi-role graphics utility. Current functions
include the following:
* Ability to load DEGAS, DEGAS compressed, and Neochrome pictures,
without the requirement to specify type. Resolution is changed
as necessary by the program itself.
* Support of color cycling for DEGAS pics, including DEGAS Elite's
4-channel color cycling.
* Allows for page flip animation of any group of pictures loaded into
memory, with playback at variable speeds.
* Provides for easy loading a long sequence of picture files for
animation.
EXPLANATION OF MENU & FUNCTIONS:
DESK: (1) GrafX Titan vx.x; Lists the current version number of the
program. When clicked, provides the current commentary on
the program and provides information for the shareware fee
payment.
(2) Desk Accessories; These have been disabled in the current
version. The reason this was done were: (a)Although the
desk accessories appeared to function correctly, upon exit
the screen was not properly redrawn. This did not interfere
with the function of the program, but our programmer likes
to keep things neat! (b)As the most attractive version of
the current version will likely be the animation feature,
most users would prefer to have maximum memory available,
and desk accessories would not be used. (However, they still
take up memory if loaded)!!
FILE (1) Load; Presents a selector box and allows a loading of
individual pictures. The number of pictures that may be
loaded is limited only by available memory. (See the PICS
menu ).
(2) Sequence; Presents a box that allows loading of a sequence
or saving of a sequence text file. If 'Save' is selected,
GrafX Titan saves a *.sqs text file to text containing the
path and names of the picture currently in memory. (This
speeds future loading of this preset sequence). If 'Load'
is selected, you will be presented with the option of
loading files listed in a previously written (using the
'Save' function) *.SQS file. Series will load in a number of
files for animation by clicking only the the first, and then
in the next selector box, the last file. The limitation is
that all files must end in a number. (i.e., FIRE1.NEO,
FIRE2.NEO, FIRE3,NEO, etc.).
(3) Save; This function is currently disabled. It WILL be
provided for in a future version. (Likely version 1.0).
(4) View; This will display the currently selected picture (see
the PICS menu). If more than one picture is selected, the
first picture in the PICS menu will be shown. All pictures
may be deselected using the 'ALT-D' hot key combination, and
the picture you wish to view selected with the mouse from
the PICS menu).
(5) Remove; This will remove the currently selected pic from
memory. Again, if more than one is selected, only the first
picture listed under the PICS menu that is selected will be
affected.
(6) Help; This function is currently disabled.
(7) Quit; Exits the program and returns to the desktop. ALT-Q
may also be used to quit from the program.
FUNCTION: (1) Palette; This function is currently disabled.
(2) Draw; This function is currently inactive.
(3) Cycling; If a picture selected (or the first picture if more
than one is selected) contains color cycling information,
this menu item will toggle cycling on and off. Cycling
speed is set by the 'Time' menu item under SLIDE. Cycling
speed may increased may holding down the left mouse button,
or slowed by holding down the right mouse button.
SLIDE (1) Play; Displays a page-flip animation of all currently
selected (see PICS menu) files in memory. Any color cycling
information present is ignored.
(2) Time; Sets the time value (measured in increments of 1/50th
of a second for display time. (Display time may also be
affected by the mouse buttons; hold down the left button
to increase the display interval, right to decrease it).
For use as a page-flip animator, low values (4-8) are
suggested. For use as an in-memory slide show with no
disk access required, values of up to 500 (10 seconds per
picture) may be used.
(3) ##; The third item is always shown as inactive. This will
show the display rate that is currently set, in 1/50th of
a second increments.
PICS When no pictures are loaded, this will display (as a
inactive item) the maximum number of pictures that may be
loaded into memory. When pictures are loaded, they are
listed in this menu. All pictures are set as selected when
loaded. (Selected pictures will have a check mark before
their names in this menu). Individuals pics may be
deselected or selected by clicking on the names in this
menu with the mouse. To deselect all pictures, use ALT-D.
To select all pictures listed, use ALT-S.
PROPOSED FUTURE FEATURES:
* Enabling of the 'Save' file function. This would enable any
currently loaded screen to be saved as a .NEO or DEGAS picture.
This would also allows for graphics file conversion. This will
also allow you to save any graphics screen as the new backdrop
screen for the program window.
* Enabling of the 'Help' function. We hope to offer context-sensitive
help at some point.
* Enabling of 'Palette' and 'Draw' functions to allows use of GrafX
Titan as a more complete art program. This will includes some
functions you may not have seen before. Any suggestions are, of
course, welcome. (See information at the end of this file on how
to contact RLS).
* Variable display time for EACH picture selected. This should be
especially useful for page-flip animation sequences.
GRAFX TITAN IS SHAREWARE
We expect to continue to upgrade GrafX Titan. At some point, further
upgrades will be available to registered users only. The documentation for
the final freely distributable version will alert you to this change.
GrafX Titan v0.9 is shareware and may be distributable freely,
provided that all files are included intact. (This should include the
files RLSGT_09.PRG and RLSGT_09.DOC). If you find GrafX Titan useful, we
encourage you to send your shareware fee (currently $8), along with you
name, address, and computer type (i.e., 520STfm, 104STf, Mega 2, TT, etc).
