  3.   ACCOMPANIST - A 16 Voice Sequencer.

  6.      ACCOMPANIST is a 16 Voice Sequencer for use on any model  of 
  7. ATARI ST.  It works with either monochrome or colour monitors. On 
  8. a  520 there is room for over 8000 notes (note-on +  note-off  or 
  9. other MIDI event), and on a 1040 over 30000 notes.
  10.      The design was heavily influenced by David Mellor's hypothe-
  11. tical 'Ideal Sequencer' which appeared in the October 1988  issue 
  12. of the Sound on Sound magazine.  Many thanks to him for a lot  of 
  13. useful  and elegant ideas.  I hope he will approve of the  single 
  14. note/chord  editing  feature which I have fitted on  top  of  his 
  15. concepts.
  16.      ACCOMPANIST uses the high level GEM event timing system  via 
  17. MODULA-2,   so  the  timing  accuracy  is  adequate  rather  than 
  18. brilliant, with a target resolution of 96 beats per quarter note.
  19.      The  file MANUAL.TXT contains a description of  ACCOMPANIST, 
  20. and the MUSIC folder contains a few example pieces of music.  The 
  21. file  VERSION2.2  contains  details  about   bug  fixes  and  new 
  22. features.
  23.      Double click on SEQUENCE.PRG to load and run.

  52.    I  would  like  to hear about  any  bugs  that  you  find.  In 
  53. particular,  PLEASE  report any serious  errors,  such  'MODULA-2  
  54. Run-Time  Error #n'.  Would you please supply me  with  following 
  55. information.  The  original type of ST,  eg 520 STE,  any  memory 
  56. upgrades, TOS release if known, any other hardware mods, Run-Time 
  57. error #, and a detailed list of actions leading to the error.

  64.   Recent developments have been carried out using MAXIDISK.  This 
  65. is a PD RAM Disk which survives Resets, and also compresses files 
  66. so that space is increased by about 20%. The author is Max Boehm, 
  67. Im Engelbrauk 5, 4670 Luenen, West Germany.
  68.   The RAM Disk is loaded at Boot up time using UPLOADER.  This PD 
  69. utility comes from Jon Ellis, Scisys Software, 29 Ashridge Drive,

  79.    I  developed  this program as an  accompanist  for  my  wife's 
  80. singing.   A  recent illness left me only able to play  my  piano 
  81. with  one  hand,  so I replaced the piano with  a  CASIO  HT-3000 
  82. attached  to my 1040.  The program was developed over the last  3 
  83. years.  It has proved a great therapy after having to retire from 
  84. 15 years working in the computer industry.
