  1.                        DOS ODI (NetWare 4.0 server)

  3.   This document applies to the EtherExpress(tm) 16, 16TP, 16C, FLASH,
  4.   FLASH TP, FLASHC, MCA, and MCA/TP.  It contains notes for installing
  5.   the NetWare 4.0 ODI driver.  It does not explain how to configure
  6.   an EtherExpress board.

  8.   The installation of the NetWare 4.0 Client software is much easier
  9.   than earlier versions.  The installation procedure will transfer
  10.   files to a specific directory on the workstation and create or modify
  11.   existing configuration files to fit your specific needs.  The
  12.   installation utility INSTALL.EXE is located on NetWare's "Workstation
  13.   for DOS" diskette.

  15.   Before you begin, you need the I/O address and IRQ of the
  16.   EtherExpress adapter.  You can get this information by running
  17.   SOFTSET (for ISA cards) or the IBM System Configuration utility
  18.   (for Microchannel cards).

  20.   INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

  22.   Run INSTALL.EXE from the Workstation for DOS Diskette.

  24.   The Netware Client Install program screen will appear.  You must
  25.   complete each of the questions.  These options are specific to your
  26.   needs.

  28.   Step #1 specifies the directory on the hard drive that you want to
  29.   install the client software.  The default directory is C:\NWCLIENT.
  30.   You can specify another directory if you desire.

  32.   Step #2 gives you the option to automatically update the CONFIG.SYS
  33.   and the AUTOEXEC.BAT files or modify them at a later time manually.

  35.   Step #3 will install Windows software for your system if your
  36.   workstation supports Windows, and will ask you to specify the
  37.   directory which Windows is located.

  39.   Step #4 asks you to select a network driver and provide configuration
  40.   options.  It uses the specifications you select to create the file
  41.   NET.CFG.  This is the step in which you will choose the appropriate
  42.   Intel EtherExpress option (ISA or MCA).  Insert the EtherExpress disk
  43.   when prompted for the driver disk. Intel EtherExpress ISA would be
  44.   selected if you are using the EE16, EE16TP or the EE16C.  Once you
  45.   have choosen the correct board type, verify the configuration settings
  46.   for the board if necessary.

  48.   Step #5 is the final step and the INSTALL program will copy the
  49.   appropriate files to your harddrive.
