Mat Mania v1.00 Sysop Documentation
----------------------------------------
for WWIV
by Spiko (aka Brian Morrison)
17@2315 WWIVnet
Greetings, and thank you for trying this first version of Mat Mania! Yes, we
know that this version will not completely bug free, despite thorough beta
testing on the Cutting Edge BBS. If you do happen to encounter any bugs,
PLEASE contact me through the WWIVnet as soon as possible. This has been
tested on versions 4.11 and 4.12 of WWIV, and therefore I cannot guarantee
that it will work on earlier versions (although it probably will).
-------------
Installing Mat Mania:
1. Create a new subdirectory for Mat Mania, and copy the MAT.EXE and
MAT-HELP.DOC files into it.
2. Next, go into you CHAINEDIT, and add Mat Mania as a new chain. Set the
Filename as follows:
For DOS 3.0 or later: d:[path]\mat.exe %1
For earlier versions: d:[path]\mat.exe %1 [path]
Where "d" is the drive, and [path] the directory structure that the game is in.
If you are using an earlier version of DOS than 3.0, you MUST add the
additional path statement to the end of the command line. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do
not put a "\" at the end of the last path statement (if you need to have it).
ANSI should be optional, because the game does not rely heavily on it. Set DOS
interrupt to "Used", and Shrink to "No".
If you are still having problems installing the game, send e-mail to me with
the following information:
1. Your computer make/model
2. Your version of DOS
3. Your version of WWIV
4. What additional hardware you have
5. Any memory-resident programs or TSR's (QEMM, QRAM, etc.)
7. Any error messages you get.
Again, thanks for trying the game. If you have any comments/suggestions for
future versions, please pass them along to me; I like to know who's using my
software.
This program was tested extensively on the Cutting Edge (203) 233-8993 @2315
WWIVnet during April and early May and also on the Undersea Castle
(203) 236-9279 in May.
If you like the game, the original version is on the Unknown Realm BBS
(temporarily down, so you can't call). But it's an Apple board, so this
was basically re-written from the ground up. With a few debugging hints from
Doctor Z, sysop of the Edge, and suggestions for improving the game, I was
able to complete this whole thing in about 7 weeks. As of the first version,
this is Freeware, not Shareware, so no money is required; you can download a
fully functional version from any BBS.
Be sure to look for another game by myself in early July 1991.
