- [REGISTER THE PROGRAM]
- a.Select REGISTER under the HELP menu at the top
- of the program screen.
- b.Purchase a REGISTRATION KEY only from:
- A Computer MD
- using the information provided on the panel.
- c.Enter the REGISTRATION KEY numbers supplied
- ONLY by A Computer MD in the four fields.
- d.Press the CLOSE button. Re-open the REGISTER
- panel and verify that the numbers appear in
- grey.

- [USE MORE THAN ONE WORKSTATION]
- a.Locate the 5 pairs of database files listed in
- the HELP files about databases and copy them
- to a common network shared folder seen by all
- computers on the network.
- b.Select the DATA PATH entry on the EDIT menu
- at the top of the screen. The program will close.
- c.Run the program and when prompted for the path
- to the database files, enter the path to the
- network share folder or navigate to it using
- the BROWSE button.

- [ACCEPT A CREDIT CARD]
- a.Once all items are added to the sale, press
- the TOTAL button.
- b.Click the CREDIT SALE button on the bottom
- of the program screen.
- c.Enter an amount to process in the TENDERED
- field.
- d.Process the credit card with your company.
- e.Enter the authorization number in the field
- on the panel that pops up.
- f.If the credit card information is not pre-
- sent on the customer's info or it differs,
- enter the current credit card information
- on the pop-up panel.
- g.Add a note to the invoice if needed.
- h.Press the RING UP button.
- i.Press the PRINT button.

- [EDIT THE DATABASES]
- a.Select the database to edit under the VIEW
- menu at the top of the program screen.
- b.Find the record or field to edit.
- c.Press the EDIT RECORD button on the
- bottom of the database panel. It will
- flash red.
- d.Place the cursor in the field to edit
- and replace the information.
- e.Hit the ENTER key on the keyboard to
- accept the change.
- f.Press the EDIT RECORD button to turn
- the edit feature off.

- [DELETE A DATABASE RECORD]
- a.Select the database to edit under the VIEW
- menu at the top of the program screen.
- b.Left click the mouse on the grey block
- at the extreme left of the row containing
- the record. A black triangle should appear.
- c.Press the DELETE RECORD button.
- d.Press the OK button to delete.
- e.To delete the bottom record, left click
- once on the record directly above the last
- record then left click on the last record.
- f.Press the DELETE RECORD button.

- [REMOVE AN ITEM FROM SALE]
- a.Before the TOTAL button has been pressed
- locate the item to be removed from the
- current sale.
- b.Left click once on the item name on the
- CASH REGISTER portion of the screen.
- c.The item will disappear and added back
- to the inventory.

- [GIVE ITEM A SPECIAL SALE PRICE]
- a.Select item using the magnifying glass.
- b.When the name and price appear, double-
- click the UNIT PRICE field.
- c.Enter the temporary sale price and press
- the ADD ITEM button.

- [UPDATE QUANTITIES DURING SALE]
- a.Double-click the product name in the PRODUCT
- field on the CASH REGISTER.
- b.Enter the new quantity.
- c.Press the CLOSE button.

- [OPEN CASH DRAWER]
- a.Double-click the Swift POS logo on the bottom
- of the program screen.

- [LOCATE A PRODUCT USING BARCODE]
- a.Press the BARCODE button on the bottom left
- of the screen.
- b.When the fields become active, scan the pro-
- duct's barcode.
- c.If the barcode matches a product entry, the
- information will appear in the fields.

- [SET UP PROGRAM SECURITY]
- a.Select PREFERENCES under the FILE menu
- at the top of the screen.
- b.Select the SECURITY index tab.
- c.Enter the first username in the field
- marked USER NAME.
- d.The first user is the ADMINISTRATOR by
- default.
- e.Enter matching passwords in the fields
- marked PASSWORD / CONFIRM PASSWORD.
- f.Press the UPDATE button.
- g.Add more users as necessary using the
- steps above.
- h.Changes will not take effect until the
- program is closed and re-opened.

- [BACKUP PROGRAM FILES]
- a.Select BACKUP under the FILE menu at
- the top of the screen.
- b.Browse to the location where you want
- to store the backup files.
- c.The program will close and the backup
- program will run.
- d.Press the START BACKUP button.
- e.All files necessary to run the program
- will be zipped into the backup files.
- ___________________________________________

- [RESTORE FROM A RECENT BACKUP]
- a.RESTORE should only be used to recover
- from a major error or to retrieve
- lost information. Extreme care should
- be observed when using this function.
- b.If the main program will run, select
- RESTORE from the FILE menu at the
- top of the screen.
- c.The main program will close and the
- RESTORE program will run.
- d.The path to the last successful back-
- up should appear in the RESTORE
- FROM field.
- e.Enter another location if required.
- f.Press the START RESTORE button.
- g.If the main program will not run due
- to file damage, a third party unzip
- program can be used such as WINZIP
- or PKZIP.
- h.Extract the files from the last good
- backup into the Swift POS folder.

- [START A NEW YEAR]
- a.Select CLOSE YEAR from the ARCHIVE
- menu found under the VIEW item at the
- top of the screen.
- b.Press the YES button on the CLOSE
- THE YEAR? panel.
- c.Using the SAVE IN field locate the
- place where you wish to store the
- archived file.
- d.It is recommended to use the default
- program folder so the files can be
- included in BACKUP.
- e.Give the file a simple year name in the
- FILE NAME field with no file exten-
- sion. ie 2002 or 2003
- f.Press the SAVE button.
- g.A new SALE DB file will be created.
- the database will be empty and the
- invoice numbers will start over at
- one.

- [OPEN A PRIOR YEAR]
- a.Select PRIOR YEAR from the ARCHIVE
- menu found under the VIEW item at
- the top of the screen.
- b.Locate the archived year file, left
- click on it and press the OPEN
- button.
- c.The prior SALE DB file will be opened
- and will not accept new transactions.
- ___________________________________________

- [ACCEPT PAYMENT ON RECEIVABLES]
- a.Select RECEIVABLES from the FILE
- menu at the top of the screen.
- b.Locate the customer by typing the first
- few letters of the last name.
- c.Left-click on the customer's name and
- the invoice information will appear.
- d.Enter either a portion or full payment
- amount in the TENDERED field select
- the payment method and press the
- RING UP button.
