- Printing with HyperView PM
-
- Many HyperView users have requested a print function. The following
- instructions will let you print an entire document, or an extract, from
- HyperView PM. The result is roughly equivalent to using the 'Print'
- command from the command line.
-
- Please view these instructions as a temporary expedient. More
- sophisticated methods of printing are currently under investigation.
-
- 1. Make sure you have enabled both 'Expand tabs' and 'Add hard return'
- from the 'Format output' cascade menu.
-
- 2. Enable word wrap if you are viewing a word processing document or a
- stripped ASCII file.
-
- 3. Be sure that HyperView's right margin is set to the correct width for
- your printer's default font and default paper width.
-
- 4. Gather the text you wish to print. To print an entire file, use the
- 'Gather all' command from the menu or type CTRL+/.
-
- 5. Choose 'Save to file' from the menu or type F9.
-
- 6. Check the 'Format' box in the Save Gathered Text dialog.
-
- 7. For file name select 'PRN' or 'LPT#' (where # equals the number of
- your printer port, for example LPT1).
-
- 8. Push 'OK' or type Enter.
-
- Caveats:
-
- 1. Don't try this in hex view.
-
- 2. The effectiveness of this method may depend on your printer driver.
- HyperView uses the current default printer driver associated with the
- printer port designated in step 7 above.
-
- 3. Be especially careful before using this technique with a network
- printer.
