- HTERM is a simple terminal. It has the basic features required for managing
- your communication needs, plus a few very unique features.
-
- The only files you really need to operate HTERM are...
-
- HTERM.EXE
- HTERMZ.EXE
-
- If you want to use HTERM as a host, it's nice to have the help file but
- not really required.
-
- HOST.HLP
-
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- Whether you are in need of a terminal for calling BBS's and transfer files
- with ZMODEM (a very fast transfer protocol) - or you are a consultant and need
- to have access to other peoples computers via modem for Client Support - or
- you want to allow callers to have access to your computer and communicate
- with you or transfer files, HTERM is for you.
-
- Consultants can also have their client call them as a HOST giving you the
- control of the clients system for support purposes. When your client dials,
- your system, there is a normal dial function selected by pressing F4, or the
- "Dial Remote as Host" function which is accessed by pressing F5. This can
- save you absorbing and/or tracking long distance phone charges.
-
- It also has a full HOST support mode where it will answer the phone, screen
- callers for a password, etc. Like a MINI BBS. If a SysOp Password is
- implemented then if the command SYSOP is entered at the command prompt on the
- host menu, the user is prompted for the SysOp Password which provides access
- to SysOp functions.
-
- HTERM uses ZMODEM protocol for file transfers.
-
- NOTE: Also see HOST.HLP which documents the host commands.
-
- Just run HTERM and it will set itself up.
- Press F1 when in the terminal for a list of features and key assignments.
- Here are the command line options which can automatically start the system
- as a host, set screen preferences, etc.
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- USE: HTERM command
-
- Commands:
-
- /B = force Black & White mode.
- /43 = force 43 line screen mode.
- /50 = force 50 line screen mode.
- /HOST = automatically go into Host Mode and wait for callers.
- /CPpassword = automatically inserts CALLER password if using /HOST
- /SPpassword = automatically inserts SYSOP password if using /HOST
-
- ie: HTERM /HOST /CPbear /SPyard /50
-
- HTERM encrypts your phone directory passwords in your data files for security,
- and requires a system password to operate. If you run HTERM with a command
- line of # it will display your passwords in the phone directory (for
- maintenance purposes).
-
- HTERM has logon macros for NAME and PASSWORD for fast logons. When you have
- connected with a HOST system as a terminal, the system will chime, and show
- you at what baud rate you have connected. You are also reminded of the macro
- keys to insert your name and/or password automatically.
-
- Note: When connecting to another system (Alt+N) and (Alt+P) insert your
- Name and Password for you (as if typed at the keyboard).
-
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Installation details:
-
- If you set an environment variable called COMMON you can have your terminal
- files HTERM.EXE, HTERMZ.EXE, HTERM.CFG, HTERM.DIR, HOST.HLP and HOST.BUL on
- any directory in your path identified using COMMON. This allows operation
- of HTERM from anywhere on your system. Add this to your system autoexec.bat
- file...
-
- SET COMMON=C:\TERM\
-
- ... where "C:\TERM\" is any one of your path directories.
-
- If you choose not to use this environment variable, further references
- to your COMMON path will be the current path you are on when you run HTERM.
-
- Just run HTERM and it will set itself up.
-
- You should also have this statement in your CONFIG.SYS file...
-
- DEVICE=C:\DOS\ANSI.SYS
-

- In this mode, the H)ost files allows access to the current directory only,
- and D)ownload's are restricted to the current directory. Note: If you use
- a program called HLIST.EXE, or have a text file called HLIST.LST on your
- download directory which contians a list of available files, it will be
- displayed instead. This allows masking of the files listed. HLIST is a
- text file that contains a list of files (user defined) with descriptions.
-
- When a message is entered, it is always a private message to the SYSOP and is
- contained in a file called HOST.LOG in the COMMON directory. This file also
- contains a log of hterm activities ie logon's, uploads, and downloads.
-
- This screen shows the HOST MENU when HTERM is in host mode and the SYSOP
- command is entred at the command line, and then the sysop access password was
- entered correctly.
