  13.      The printed user's manual being sent to registered users as of the date
  14.      of this file is current to Version 6.00.  Any registered users who wish
  15.      to receive a copy of this latest printed manual may order by sending $5
  16.      to NoVaSoft.  This essentially covers our printing and mailing costs.

  18.      The following features have been added or improved since the printing of
  19.      the CMFiler Version 6.00 user's manual:

  21.      "QUICK-STARTING" AN ASSOCIATED FILE in Windows 95:  For PCs running under
  22.      Windows 95, if an association exists between a file extension and an
  23.      application, you can start the application and operate on that file just
  24.      by putting the cursor on the filename and pressing Q.  For example,
  25.      Windows 95 associates .WAV files with its audio WAV file player.  To
  26.      start the WAV file player, and have it load a particular .WAV file, say
  27.      TADA.WAV, just put the cursor on the filename TADA.WAV and press Q.

  29.      FILE COMPARE:  CMFiler has a new file compare facility in the main
  30.      services module similar to the old DOS program COMP.EXE.  Put the cursor
  31.      on one file to be compared and press Ctrl-R (for compaRe).  Navigate to
  32.      the second file, put the cursor on it and press Ctrl-R again.  The bottom
  33.      of the screen will show the results of the file comparison.

  35.      ENHANCEMENTS TO FILE VIEWER:  The file viewer has been made more seamless
  36.      when viewing files which are too long to fit into the available
  37.      conventional memory. When searching for a string, viewer will load and
  38.      search the next and each subsequent section of the file until the string
  39.      is found. The file beginning/file end commands (Alt-B/Alt-E) reload the
  40.      first section, or sequentially load and index each section to the end,
  41.      instead of only moving to the beginning or end of the currently loaded
  42.      section.

  44.      A switch (Ctrl-M) has been added to the file viewer to allow masking non-
  45.      ASCII characters.  This helps in viewing word processing files, such as
  46.      WordPerfect files, which have non-ASCII characters distributed
  47.      throughout.

  49.      SPLITTING FILES IN THE FILE VIEWER:  The file viewer can now be used to
  50.      split a file into up to 20 smaller files, at dividers inserted by the
  51.      user.  Alt-I inserts a divider at the location of the cursor, and Alt-S
  52.      splits the file at the dividers. The beginning and end of the file have
  53.      pre-placed, implicit dividers.

  55.      In order to make the command Alt-S available for "Split file," the
  56.      command for switching from view to edit mode has been changed from Alt-S
  57.      to Alt-D (for eDit mode).

  59.      IMPORTING A FILE IN THE EDITOR:  The user may now import another file
  60.      into the file being edited by placing the cursor on the line just below
  61.      the desired insertion point, and pressing Alt-T (for imporT).

  63.      FLOPPY FORMATTING:  The user may now specify a volume label to be applied
  64.      to floppies during a formatting session.
  65.  
  66.      PRINTER LINE FEED:  A printer line-feed command, Ctrl-i, issues a line-
  67.      feed carriage return to LPT1 only.

  69.      LONG FILENAMES FOR COPY-WITH-RENAME:  Long filename support is now
  70.      available to the Alt-R "copy file with Rename" function.
