  1. This disc contains a collection of sources primarily for UNIX(tm)
  2. systems, though many can be compiled for other operating systems.  In
  3. some cases there are operating system specific patches or
  4. configuration files provided, in some cases executables are provided
  5. for various systems.  If there are specific packages that you are
  6. interested in please contact us and we will try to include them on
  7. future CD's, in some cases will can make arrangements to provide them
  8. to you on floppy disk or tape if you have an immediate need for
  9. something.  You may contact us as indicated in the README.1ST file in
  10. this directory.

  12. All files that end with .gz or a lower case "z" are compressed with
  13. GZIP, files that end with .Z are compressed using the standard
  14. UNIX(tm) compress program.  The sources for gzip are provided in
  15. /gnu/gzip-1.2.3.  Executables for MSDOS are in /gnu/gzip4dos.
