- DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
- -----------------------
- With shareware distribution users are given a chance to try software
- before buying it. If, after trying a Shareware program, you continue
- to use it, you are expected to register. Shareware programs
- may differ on details -- while some might request registration
- others require it. Often programs specify a maximum trial period.
- After registering, you might get anything from current program with
- a printed manual to just the right to continue using the software.
-
- The copyright laws that apply to commercial software also apply
- to shareware. The copyright holder retains all rights with a
- few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware programmers
- are accomplished professionals just like commercial programmers
- and their programs are of comparable quality. There are good and
- bad programs produced by commercial and shareware programmers.
- Mainly the difference between commercial and shareware software
- is how they are distributed. The author specifically grants the
- right to copy and distribute the software, either to all and
- sundry or to a specific group. For example, some authors require
- written permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
- Shareware.
-
- Shareware is not a type of software. Shareware is a distribution
- method. Whether it's commercial or Shareware, you should select
- software that suits your needs and finances. You can fill your
- needs much easier with Shareware because you can try out software
- before you buy it. Shareware prices are low because overhead is low
- and Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you
- don't use the software, you don't pay for it.
-
-
- DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT
- ----------------------
- Users of O.J.'s All-American Race to Acquittal must accept this
- disclaimer of warranty:
-
- "O.J.'s Race to Acquittal is supplied as is. The author disclaims
- all warranties, expressed or implied, including, without
- limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of fitness
- for any purpose. The author assumes no liability for
- damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the
- use of O.J.'s All-American Race to Acquittal."
-
- O.J.'s Race to Acquittal is a "shareware program" and is provided at
- no charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with
- your friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part
- of another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is
- to provide personal computer users with quality software without
- high prices and provide incentive for programmers to
- continue to develop new products.
-
- If you find this program entertaining and would like to remove the
- trial and feature limitations imposed, you must make a registration
- payment of $15.95 to Banana Productions, Inc. The $15.95 registration fee
- will license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time.
- You must treat this software just like a book. For example,
- this software may be used by any number of people and may be freely
- moved from one computer location to another as long as there
- is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's
- being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two
- different persons at the same time.
-
- Anyone distributing O.J.'s All-American Race to Acquittal for any
- kind of remuneration must first contact Banana Productions, Inc. at

- RULES OF THE GAME
- -----------------
- THERE ARE THREE WAYS OF WINNING:
- 1. Get acquitted. A player is acquitted if all 12 jurors are in
- her/his favor (thumbs up) when landing on the Lance Ito Trial
- tiles (these tiles are immediately before the Football Hall of
- Fame).
- 2. By choosing the correct door while at the O.J. Simpson estate.
- If the player opens the door leading to Mexico he/she immediately
- wins.
- 3. In a multi-player game, it is also possible to win by being the
- last remaining player after the other players have lost. To win
- in a one-player game, the player must be acquitted.
-
-
- THERE ARE THREE WAYS OF LOSING:
- 1. Get convicted. A player is convicted if all 12 jurors are
- against him/her (thumbs down) when landing on the Lance Ito
- (Trial) tiles. Once convicted, the player is out of the game.
- 2. Go bankrupt. A player is bankrupt when her/his bank account
- shows no money. Once bankrupt, the player is out of the game.
- 3. Police Roulette. A player loses when, following a slow-speed
- chase, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stops on the
- tile occupied by that player. See LAPD tile (below) for more
- information.
-
-
- IN A MULTIPLAYER GAME, THERE CAN BE MORE THAN ONE LOSER. THERE IS
- NEVER MORE THAN ONE WINNER.
-
- HOW TO PLAY THE GAME
-
- To start the game, select "NEW GAME" under the "GAME" menu.
- Players will be prompted to select first the number of players and
- then their names. Players will be then identified by both a name
- and number. This number appears on each player's Bronco. A
- white Bronco is the mode of transportation for O.J.'s All-American
- Race to Acquittal.
-
- Each player begins with $20,000,000 and 12 jurors in his/her
- favor (thumbs up), since you're innocent until proven guilty.
- During the game, players will either gain or lose jurors. The
- maximum number of favorable jurors is 12. This maximum is never
- exceeded by gains during the game. A player may also never have
- more than twelve jurors against him/her.
-
- Players take turns rolling dice by clicking the "ROLL DICE"
- button. The name of the active player is red. If a player loses,
- his/her name is white. The rest of the players names are black.
-
- The players move their tokens clockwise, starting at the
- Football Hall of Fame in the lower right hand corner. For
- example, the player advances seven tiles if the sum of the two
- numbers shown on the dice is seven. Each turn will cost the player
- $50,000. Players earn $100,000 each time they move past the
- Football Hall of Fame tile.
-
- TYPES OF TILES
-
- FREE TILES
- No action occurs when a player lands on a free tile. The
- free tiles are ABC's Monday Night Football, Disneyland, Mezzaluna,
- Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Shop, The Dick Van Dyke Show, McDonalds,
- and Town and Country Limousine Service.
-
- MOVE TILES
- A player who lands on a move tile will move forward or
- backward a specified number of tiles. These tiles (and the
- movements they cause) include: the Paul Revere Middle School
- (forward 4 tiles), Sunglasses (forward 4 tiles), the Smiley-Face
- (forward 19 spaces to the Football Hall of Fame), Media Blitz
- (backwards 4 tiles), and the Go Juice Go tile (forward 5 tiles).
- The player will be instructed to click the Bronco which will then
- automatically be moved.
-
- MONEY TILES
- The player wins or loses money on these tiles. These spaces
- are marked with a dollar sign. The Hollywood tile is another tile
- which affects the player's bank account.
-
- TELEVISION MAGAZINE TILES
- The player loses the support of jurors when he/she land on
- Hard Copy, Current Affair, Geraldo, or Maury Povich.
-
- EVIDENCE TILES
- The player draws a card from the evidence deck and wins or
- loses the favor of jurors, depending on whether the evidence favors
- the defense or prosecution.
-
- CHARACTER TILES
- The player draws a card from the character deck and wins or
- loses either money or jurors.
-
- TRIVIA TILES
- The player draws a card from the trivia deck and answers a
- multiple choice question. The lettered answer which is chosen
- is the lettered answer which is highlighted the next time a
- player lands on a trivia tile. If answered correctly,
- the player wins money; if answered incorrectly, the player
- loses money.
-
- CORNER TILES
- There are four corner tiles: Football Hall of Fame, the
- O. J. Simpson Estate, Tattler Tabloid, and LAPD.
-
- FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME: If the player lands on this tile, he/she
- can win $200,000 to $700,000, depending on how far down field
- O. J. advances. Each player earns $100,000 each time he/she
- passes this tile without landing on it.
-
- THE O.J. SIMPSON ESTATE: When a player lands here, he/she must
- choose one of three doors. If the door reveals a glass of
- orange juice, the tile is a free space. If "Kato the dog" is
- behind the door, the player loses $500,000 (hospital and
- surgical fees). The player immediately wins the game if the
- chosen door leads to Mexico.
-
- TATTLER TABLOID: The player landing here will gain or lose jurors,
- depending on the headline.
-
- LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT (LAPD): When any player lands on
- this corner square, a slow-speed chase ensues. All players
- risk losing the game if the squad cars stop on their Bronco.
- If the police stop on an unoccupied tile, no player loses and
- the game continues.
-
- SAN ANDREAS FAULT (EARTH QUAKE)
- When any player lands on this space all players lose
- $1,000,000.
-
- JURY DELIBERATION TILES
- There are two adjacent jury deliberation tiles. If the
- player has all 12 jurors in her/his favor when landing on these
- tiles, she/he is acquitted and wins the game. If the player has all
- 12 jurors against her/him, she/he is convicted and is taken out of
- the game.
-
-

- menu. A saved game can be loaded by selecting "LOAD GAME" under the
- "GAME" menu. This option is useful if the game must be interrupted
- with the intention of resuming play at a later time.
-

- choose the 16 color mode from Options.
