-
- This program was written to make the work of sysops much more easier.
- I also know the problem looking every morning or night who has called my
- system. I allways used an ascii-viewer to browse through my looong log-
- files. Some might use a tool which shows every caller, but if you want to
- know details about a specific session you still have to browse through your
- logfiles using an ascii-editor/viewer.
- This program should end this. The idea comes from Carsten Kurse
- (2:248/4002). This tool allows you to see whom you have called _and_
- who has called you. Everything on one screen. If you want to know more
- about a session you have the oportunity to view the part of the logfile
- which belongs to the session. SHOW-LOG is aware of mailer-calls as well
- as of online-calls. SHOW-LOG just uses the logfiles of your mailer- and
- BBS-software. The program can be installed and set up easily in almost
- every environment, including multiline-systems.

- If you don't use the parameter -D, SHOW-LOG uses the date
- the internal system clock provides.
- -D:G Tells SHOW-LOG to use yesterday's date.
-
- -C:<config> Tells SHOW-LOG to use a different config file.
- SHOW-LOG needs the full path and file name of the
- config file.
- If you don't use parameter -C:, SHOW-LOG will search
- for its default config file SHOWL.CFG in the same directory
- SHOWL.EXE is located.
-
- -K:X[,Y] Shortens all logfiles, which are specified by mailer/bbs_log.
- All entries which are older than X days will be cut out.
- Y can be M or B. M: Only mailer logfiles will be shortend
- B: Only BBS logfiles will be shortend.
-
- -S:<template> Tells SHOW-LOG to use a different template than the one
- specified with REPORT_TEMPLATE. {+}
- If you do not specify a path, SHOW-LOG will search in its
- own directory for the file.
-
- -G:T,<file> Will create a small statistic as s textfile.
- <file> must be the full path and filename of
- the file to be created.
- -G:N Will create a small statstic as a netmail.
- This will use the same settings as for reports.
-
- Examples: SHOWL.EXE -T:2 -D:12-01-1996 -R:N -C:C:\FD\SHOW\SHOWL.CFG
-
- Creates a reoprt of all callers on line 2.
- The date is the 12nd of january in 1996.
- It will use C:\FD\SHOW\SHOWL.CFG as config-file.
-
- SHOWL.EXE -R:T -D:G -K:30,B -C:C:\SHOWL\MYCONFIG.CFG
-
- Creates a report of all callers on line 1 (default).
- It will use yesterday's date and will cut out all entrys
- which are older than 30 days from the BBS-logfiles.
- It will use C:\SHOWL\MYCONFIG.CFG as config-file.

- └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘

- SHOW-LOG is able to create reports listing all incoming and ougoing calls
- of a certain day. (Paramter -R). This feature allows you to automaticly
- create a netmail-report every night of the day befor.
- You can choose wheter the report should be created as netmail or as plain

-
- Netmails will have your name and aka as origination-adress.

-
- If you set REPORT_TO_SYSOP to YES then a report to the same adress will
- be created.
- You can also define more recipients by using the keyword REPORT_TO. {+}
-
- If there are any errors during an automatic report please refer to the

- └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- If you are a registered user of SHOW-LOG you can specify a template
- SHOW-LOG should use creating its reports by using the keyword
- REPORT_TEMPLATE.
-
- In the original distribution-archiv of SHOW-LOG are many example-templates
- included.
-
- One template consists of three parts. The descriptive part, the outbound
- part and the inbound part. Of course you can leave out one or more
- of these parts, but you have to be sure that the outbound/inbound part
- is always just one block.
- NOTE: The inbound-block MUST be situated BEFOR the outbound-block!
-
- right: @outbound@<text1>
- @outbound@<text2>
-
- wrong: @outbound@<text1>
- @desc@<text3>
- @outbound<text2>
-
- So a descriptive part is only be allowed befor an outbound/inbound-block
- or after an outbound/inbound-block.
-
- eg: @desc@<text1>
- @outbound@<text2>
- @outbound@<text3>
- @desc@<text4>
-
- Following keywords are allowed: (SHOW-LOG will ignore blank lines)
-
- @desc@ - descriptive text
- @outbound@ - Outbound-Block (will be used for every session-entry)
- @inbound@ - Inbound-Block (will be used for every session-entry)
-
- You can insert following macros in <text>:
-
- @fsname@ First name of the sysop
- @lsname@ Surname of the sysop
- @sname@ Full name of the sysop
- @frname@ Prename of the current recipient
- @lrname@ Surname of the current recipient
- @rname@ Full name of the current recipient
- @saka@ Your Main-Adress (AKA)
- @raka@ The adress of the current recipient
- @bbs@ Your system/BBS-name

-
- The variabe $TASK$ will be used in addition with MAX_TASKS.
- Let us assume you have set MAILER_LOG to C:\MD$TASK$.LOG and BBS_LOG to
- C:\RA$TASK$.LOG. MAX_TASKS ist set to 3. The result would be that the
- following logfiles will be shortend: C:\MD1.LOG, C:\MD2.LOG, C:\MD3.LOG as
- well as C:\RA1.LOG, C:\RA2.LOG and C:\RA3.LOG.
-
- Should a logfile not be found than SHOW-LOG will write this to the file

- maximum amount of MAX_TASKS.
