  2.     BEGIN, A Tactical Starship Simulation has been, or should be,
  3. uploaded to this BBS.  It is the finest, most accurate Starship 
  4. Simulation yet (or at least we hope it is).
  5.  
  6.     Unlike almost all other "Trek" games, Begin does not employ the
  7. unrealistic "quadrant-sectors" or the "Mass Hoard of aliens" approach.
  8. Instead, all ships are created equal with intelligent enemy strategy
  9. being used to defeat the unsuspecting human player.  For the novice
  10. player even a one-on-one scenario is quite a challenge.

  12.     Begin also features four different nations, Federation, Klingon,
  13. Romulan and Orion, with the human player becoming the nation of their
  14. choice.  The program also provides for numerous ship classes of varying
  15. design for each of the different nation.

  17.     There are not any artificial "difficulty levels" in Begin. Instead
  18. if a player wishes for an easier scenario, they may command a fleet of
  19. up to seventeen ships against a smaller enemy force.  For a more 
  20. difficult scenario, one-on-nine is a more likely challenge.

  22.     Currently Begin will run on any video adapter including the IBM
  23. monochrome adapter although we recommend a color display.
  24.  
  25.     We are currently planning Version 2.0 and are interested in your
  26. ideas.  To make this exchange easier for all, we have set up the Micro
  27. Foundry BBS. It is an open board giving all callers 60 minutes with no
  28. uploads requirements.
