Correct aperture settings are a vital element of proper exposure. Settings called f-stops range from very small to wide open. Aperture settings also affect the depth of field, or the area of the scene in focus. When the aperture opening is very small, the area in focus includes most of the lilies in this scene. wide open, the area in focus is relatively shallow, isolating this single lily and vine.
