- About Tyrant 2
- >STYLE Body
- Tyrant 2 is - in our un-biast opinion - the best available disk magazine for the
- Acorn. Why? Well, for three main reasons:
- • The intuitive and 'User-friendly' Interface.
- • The High quality of articles.
- And finally, the easy going attitude of the authors. This magazine was initially
- created because of the lack of a high quality, interesting and easy to read
- magazine, and we feel that the magazine now addresses all of the aims it was
- set to achieve.

- So, how do I use it?
- • Hypertext
- >STYLE Body
- The most important part of the magazine is it's 'hyper text' facility that means
- you can click on words such as {This}2 to go to different pages. (The button above
- does nothing) As you can see, the 'Key words' appear in a different colour to
- the rest of the text so they are more conspicuous.

- • Control Bar
- >STYLE Body
- If you click menu a 'Control bar' will come onto the screen. How to use it is
- obvious so I won't explain all the buttons. This is used for setting markers,
- going to different sections, changing page, setting up the sound system and a
- whole lot of other things! To close it click on the page or the close button to the
- right of the bar. If you don't know what a particular button does, click adjust
- over it (To activate help):
-
- >STYLE Sub
- • HELP!!
- >STYLE Body
- You can get help on anything in the magazine by click adjust on something
- When you do this a message box will pop up and give you help about what you
- clicked on.
-

- • Markers
- >STYLE Body
- Markers are a system whereby you can mark and later return to a page. To set
- a marker, click on the 'Set marker' button on the control bar. Then you will be
- able to specify the text that will appear on the markers list and the number of
- the maker you want to set you can use the markers by clicking on the markers
- button on the control bar.
-
- Click on {this}3 to go to the contents page.

- WHCC History
- >STYLE Body
- The 'Computer Club' was formed in September of 1983, by three young
- computer enthusiasts living in Welwyn Garden City. A suitable site at the
- Campus West library was found, and advertisements were placed around the
- Welwyn-Hatfield area announcing the first meeting on Friday 30th September
- 1983. Which attracted a good attendance.
-
- Another meeting took place, but soon afterwards, two members of the committee
- decided to resign, due to other commitments and a general shake up took place
- allowing two new members to join the committee.
-
- After much discussion amongst the committee, it was decided to move the
- meeting away from the Campus, because it was proving to be too expensive.
- A suitable building was sought out in the following weeks.
-
- Two weeks later the computer club moved to the Panshanger Youth Club in
- Herns Lane, Welwyn Garden City. The club format was completely revamped
- and it was decided that club meetings should take place every 1st and 3rd
- Friday in the month. The name of the club was changed to the 'Basic User
- Group'.
-
- Over the next two years the club continued to meet at the youth club, setting up
- a club magazine called 'Abacus' and arranging a number of speakers on
- general computer topics. Numbers at meetings remained steady at around
- 15-20 per meeting. During the summer of 85, the club set up a week's BASIC
- programming course during the summer holidays, at the Panshanger Youth
- club for school children. It proved to be a great success, providing programming
- on a range of computers.
-
- In 1989 the name of the club was changed to 'The Welwyn-Hatfield Computer
- Club', to recognise the fact that the club was extending its net to cover the
- whole of the Welwyn-Hatfield area. The club also organised the first club outing
- to British Aerospace. It proved to be an outstanding success by all concerned.
- Every meeting a number of experienced users attend and are only too happy to
- try and answer any questions people might have.
-
- The club has its own newsletter, featuring news, hints and tips, adverts and
- special offers. The club offers a special deal on 3 and half inch floppy discs to
- it's members. There is no entrance charge on your first visit. Refreshments are
- available during meetings.
