- Typically, infants born prior to 28 weeks of gestation are refered to
- as salvagable, not that they have a better then even chance of survival.
- They are kept in an ICU and require termendous amounts of care and life
- support. The rule of thumb is that for every week of gestation, you avoid
- 2-3 weeks in an ICU. That is why these are refered to as crisis pregnancies
- and salvagable infants.
