  20. Typically, infants born prior to 28 weeks of gestation are refered to
  21. as salvagable, not that they have a better then even chance of survival.
  22. They are kept in an ICU and require termendous amounts of care and life
  23. support. The rule of thumb is that for every week of gestation, you avoid
  24. 2-3 weeks in an ICU. That is why these are refered to as crisis pregnancies
  25. and salvagable infants.

  27. All extremely premature infants face serious health problems and the 
  28. very real possibility of mental and physical handicaps.
