- Research is like that. It may be that you will have to start over. It
- may be that what you can prove is enough for a dissertation. It may be
- that someone announces the result before you do and your work is not
- accepted as original. All of these have happened.

- At most schools you formally need an advisor, but rarely is this true in
- the strict case. Some schools do not even require this.
