- Gravity, anger, and household pets kill these remotes. Most
- common problem is the ceramic resonator, generally an orange or
- blue or brightly-colored, square-ish component. It's the
- "crystal" that provides clock pulses.

- There is usually a frequency stamped on them. Radio Shack
- carries the common ones. Many other vendors do too. Always look
- the board over for cracks and check that the battery contacts
- are sucurely soldered in place.
