- Another thing you could do is replace the rear axle with one which has
- a lower gear ratio. I have the same problem in my '54, it cruises nicely
- at 45 MPH, anything higher and I worry about the engine. I was thinking
- of changing the rear gears, or maybe getting a 2-speed rear (anyone care
- to comment on my chances of finding one of these?). I never thought about
- the five-speed (probably because I don't have a 3-speed, but a 4-speed with
- compound low, which I like). I assume these 5-speeds all have overdrive 5th
- gear? Otherwise it is not going to do you much good.
