  12. Hi,
  13.   I have a 1980 200sx, 2.0 liter, FI.  I have a problem with the little
  14. dash multi-warning gizmo.  It keeps flashing that I need to check my
  15. battery fluid level and I can't make it stop.  The thing is, there is
  16. some sort of electrical connection to a floater that sits on one of the
  17. refill cells on the battery.  As the fluid level goes down, I think the
  18. floater is supposed to move down and act as a potentiometer for the
  19. electrical connector, so when the floater reaches a certain resistance
  20. level, it activates the signal to flash the dash warning.  Of course
  21. that's only speculation since the damn floater thing is missing!  I got
  22. the car with the thing already missing and a different type of battery
  23. had been installed in place of the old one and there is now only an
  24. exposed lead where the floater thing was supposed to be.  I've checked
  25. the thing with a voltmeter and sure enough there is some slight current
  26. running through it and I've bought a small potentiometer and hooked it
  27. between ground and the current and tried all sorts of settings with
  28. little luck.  I may need an exact value for the resistance.
  29. Or maybe I'm totally wrong and it doesn't work that way at all.  So if
  30. anyone has any sort of knowledge on the matter, PLEASE respond cause
  31. I've grown tired of the steady flashing on my dash!
