- Not sure about the tacho dropping, but I had the same symptoms in my 83
- (non GTI) Golf. I thought it a fuel problem as there was poor flow through
- filter with a lot of bubbles.... After replacing fuel pump, filter & flexible
- fuel lines, cleaning the carb., the problem was still there. Finally cured it
- when I realised the fuel intake pipe in the tank was blocked. Cured that for
- free by simply blowing down the engine bay end of the fuel line. The obstr-
- uction was cleared like a pea from a pea shooter & Hey Presto !
