- I have been thinking about painting my dipsticks, partly to make them
- easier to read, and partly to make them easier to reinsert into their
- wonted holes in the engine and transmission. Is there a paint that is
- suitable for this sort of thing? Anything to look out for?
-
- I mainly want to paint the engine oil dipstick, at least the part
- below the plug seal, and I wish to paint it white so the oil will
- contrast well. I'd like to do the same to the ATF dipstick but it's
- not as critical since it has a flat back I can check the markings
- against. I was thinking about an epoxy-type spray paint, surface
- prepared by wirebrush, sanding, and degreasers, and cured by mild
- heat. Will this be satisfactory or will it react with the oil at
- operating temperatures?

- don't get many chances to read this newsgroup lately..
