- Yup, my 1974 RX-3 backfired like a sumbitch even when brand new, and it
- only got worse with time. Damn embarassing too. "You runnin yer car
- on beans, Harv?"
-
- Another funny thing is that the back of the car (which was white) got a
- yellowish film on it above the tailpipe. Polish or 409 or whatever would
- take it off, but a few weeks of driving and it was back again.
- I always thought it was interesting that a car with such a tiny engine
- had such an absolutely huge muffler and large rectangular-outlet
- tailpipe. In fact the original muffler outlived the original engine
- (which blew up at 60,000 miles) and the replacement engine
- (which blew up at 120,000 miles).
