- A device along these lines was devised by a guy in Arizona ten, or so,
- years ago and Yellow Cab put it on all their cars in San Francisco. It
- was a higher than normal intensity yellow light that ranged from solid,
- through low to high blink rates to indicate how hard the brakes were
- applied. IT WAS A DANGEROUS ABOMINATION!
-
- The device had the basic effect of riviting the attention of most
- following drivers on the car with the brake blinker. This produced an
- increase in the frequency of rear-end accidents in San Francisco. Sober
- drivers tended to stare at the blinker in another lane a drive into the
- car in front of them. Drunks tended to lock onto the car with the
- blinker and drive into it.

-
- Sure. Drop it! It's been tried and it was really stupid.
