  27. Sony's MD are available already in Japan.  The one I was looking at (portable)
  28. was priced at the equivalent of about $650.  I tried it out and it's not too 
  29. bad.

  31. One of the two floor models was broken though.  That always gives me a 
  32. shiver.

  34. One thing I like about the Sony is that the batteries last a long time.
  35. The batteries on my portable DAT last about 90 minutes if I'm lucky.  
  36. Is there an estimate for how long the batteries last on the Phillips DCC
  37. portables?  
  38. I suspect that it is more like the DAT situation (extra friction).
