- For off-road use (i.e. Baja), I just saw the newest Sony portable in Japan
- last week. It includes what they call ESP (Electonic Shock Protection).
- This effectively buffers the music so that a hit to the player will not
- affect the music. It it loses track of the music, it can recover before the
- buffer empties.
-
- I played with it for a while, bumped it around, and tried to make it skip.
- I finally succeeded but only by continuously hitting the unit for a few
- seconds (not a typical real-world scenario). It works.
-
- So if you want to jog or go mountain biking with your discman this is the
- one to get. The model number is D-505 or D-515 I think but it has "ESP"
- marked on it somewhere anyway.
-
- Best price I could find was equivalent to about $325 USD.
-
- Has anyone seem it in the US yet?
