  12. One real problem is that it's hard, if you've looked at things at all,
  13. to be unaware that the nekkid pictures being posting to the net are not
  14. copyright violations.

  16. In fact, if you're reading this message, you've now been informed that
  17. a large percentage of the x-rated and erotic GIFs posted in the alt groups
  18. are copyright violations.

  20. So while you may not read the group or look at any one posting, I have to
  21. say that in my judgement, knowingly feeding a group that contains mostly
  22. copyright violations will make you -- your site -- liable, not just the
  23. people posting these violations.

  25. There is precedent for this.  Normally, people who on photocopy shops are
  26. not liable for what is done with photocopiers because they don't scan each
  27. thing copied.  But a Kinkos did get sued to the tune of major dollars
  28. because they regularly let a professor come in and copy books regularly.
