- Hi,
-
- Yesterday I fetched, compiled, and installed gcc v2.3.1.
- We have sun4s running sunos 4.1.1. I have a few questions,
- which are probably ridiculously simple, but the answers
- don't seem obvious right now.
-
- 1. Should I be using gas and gld? Right now, I use neither
- and the objects are linked dynamically (which I think is
- great).
-
- 2. Where do the g++ header/include files come from? I seem
- to be lacking them.
- (If I just need to ftp another piece of GNU stuff from
- somewhere, this is great, but could this bit of info
- perhaps be added to the INSTALL file? Thanks.)
-
- 3. What is the libgcc.a used for? It was installed under
- /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/sparc.../2.3.1 and is a collection
- of objects that can be used in static linking. I'm asking
- because I wonder how this works with/against dynamic linking
- on our suns.
-
- 4. Finally, what is "glibc-1.05" (seen in this group) and why
- (?) do I need it?
-
- Thanks in advance for any and all help. My apologies if I've
- overlooked the answers in the INSTALL, but I really did read it.
