- Using variable size records rather than fixed size blocks avoids this
- problem (see my earlier mail). Jim, thanks for adding some more flexibilty
- in setting the block size when using fixed block mode, that helps.

- Compression can also cause problems for data transport and should be avoided
- unless you know for certain that both the reading and writing drives use the
- same type of compression. On most drives that have compression it is possible
- to turn it off - the only exception I have seen is the Archive Python
- compression drive, which doesn't appear to allow compression to be disabled
- (at least none of the software I have supports this). If so, this is a major
- drawback to this drive for those interested in data transport. If there is
- a way to disable compression on this drive, the tc driver should support it.
