- Sorry, I forgot to complete the answer. If you have a system with a VMEbus,
- such as the Sun-4/330, 4/490, or SS690MP, the data transfer rate between
- two cards on the bus (not the CPU card) is purely dictated by which VME mode
- those two cards use to communicate (i.e. word transfer, burst transfer), how
- the card acting as master does its arbitration requests (bus holding, overlapped
- arbitration, drop-and-request) and the clock rates and synchronization strategy
- of the VME interfaces of those two cards. This is pure VME spec; the Sun CPU only
- participates in the arbitration for the bus, and if it is not attempting to access
- the VMEbus then the transfer rate between the other two cards is independent
- of the CPU.
