  34. The above comparison is a bet screwed since the EISA bus runs at 8MHz,
  35. you need 8M extra RAM, the PC has no ethernet, and since you are
  36. comparing a OS against a ROM monitor.  The EISA won't expand > 16M (?).

  38. You would need to add a lot of money to get up to localbus or so and a
  39. Unix.  BTW 14" to 15" is also a lot of money.

  41. Thus I _do_ believe Sun's claim here that they have a price advantage
  42. over the highend.  Sticking with the above pricing I think it'll be
  43. a extra $1.5k price tag to get a comparable 486.

  45. Further, the above is a bit unfair in comparing a Gateway against
  46. a Sun.  If we did (say) Compaq against Sun then things would look even
  47. better for Sun.

  49. I expect the SPARC cloners will do a good job of further dropping the
  50. price of Tsunami boxes.  At that point we'll see options which sound
  51. like Gateway.
