  33.     This gets to an interesting question: what is the cost of a
  34. *stand alone* system ? The information I have seen says that the price
  35. comes with a single user RTU (right to use) and the machine DOES NOT
  36. come loaded with an OS. This seems to imply that I have to buy a CD
  37. ROM drive and a Solaris 2.1 CD ROM. How much does this cost?
  38. Furthmore, from what I have seen, it isn't clear if I can load Solaris
  39. 2.1 onto the HD permanently. If this were the case, I guess I could
  40. borrow the CD ROM drive and the Solaris CD ROM and install the system
  41. once and for all. Does any one know the answer to this question ? Some
  42. other questions that I haven't seen the answer to are :

  44. 1) What is the length of the warranty (sp?) on the Classic ?
  45.     The blurbs I have say 1yr on the LX but say nothing about the
  46.     Classic.

  49.     Will a generic SCSI QIC tape drive work for backup purposes?
  50.     Will a generic SCSI CD ROM drive work for initial OS booting?

  54. 4) How "good" is the 15" monitor ?
  55.     On a related topic, it appears that the LX can display N x M
  56.     "pixel" screeens where N and M can have several values while
  57.     the Classic displays only 1024 x 768 @ 76Hz independent of the
  58.     attached monitor. Did I read this right?
